Kay, it's back on. He's doing Drum Island now. Just beat a stage where you have to carry Nami to the castle.

Calling Water 7 "QTE hell" would be an understatement.

They most likely will, they're probably debating whether to make it dual audio or not. As i'm sure US voice actors are more expensive for them to get and this won't be as popular inside of japan as outside. Even if it is popular. I don't really care about dual audio as long as we get the game otherwise i'll import, i'm debating importing kenzan at this point.

Bandai Namco Games Europe has registered the trademark for this game as most people probably know by now, so an overseas release is highly likely. But then again tons of companies have registered trademarks and never released games before.

I've watched tons of gameplay footage from a guy called downtimejapan on youtube, he's uploaded basically everything from Main Log mode. I'm not allowed to post external links because I'm a nub here *sadface* but you might want to check him out on youtube. In my case it just makes me want the game more yet I can't stop myself from watching. Maybe I'm a masochist.

I'd be suprised if it doesn't at least get a EU release the koei games do alright here, plus the fact they thought about digital distribution for the US to reduce costs. Suggests they have better plans for this kind of stuff.

If it did get a US release I'd imagine it would be retail because they already an English cast.

Yeah but koei get screwed by the US generally. It's why they dropped dual audio from there games. The English VAs will most likely cost a shitload to get and will they make there money back. US fans said they loved fist of the north star and that did terrible.

I'd be surprised if we don't get an EU release aswell. The game has done amazingly well in Japan with 650,000 copies shipped for the March 1st launch and as of March 15 the sales had gone up to 900,000 copies closing in on one million. Apparently at least 745,907 of those sales are from Japan alone which means at least 145k~ of those copies were ordered from overseas. This was nearly two weeks ago though so I don't know what it looks like now.

But I think this more than warrants an EU and eventual NA release since I'm sure they're aware of One Piece's popularity overseas. Game companies usually never turn down an opportunity to make more money so long as they earn more than they spend after all.

I've been reading around a lot this weekend and the negative responses I see to a possible EU/US release for this game is quite surprising. People are going "KOEI has screwed up too much lately in their games for that", "Releasing this game in europe and usa would only waste our and KOEI's time", "If the game comes overseas it will only give koei more of a reason to stop shipping games over here", "Instead of wasting time on this game which will obviously fail they should get sw3 over here" etc.

Is KOEI really doing that bad overseas? I'm usually quite busy so I don't always have time to keep up to date with everything going on in the gaming world. The only real mistakes I've seen them make recently is not having released SW3 for PS3 overseas and having replaced Free mode with Conquest mode in DW7/DW7: XL, which I hope isn't a permanent change but it was still a nice of change of pace, other than that I haven't noticed them making any major blunders.

Do I need to spend more time reading game news or what? I feel so uninformed.

whoever wrote that last quote has no idea what they're talking about. samurai warriors 3 sold horribly overseas which is why it got cancelled for it's western ps3 release.

koei does have much better sales in japan than the rest of the world because that's the only place koei is truly popular.

Don't listen to the trolls. Koei fans in America are a minority, and the series is trolled insanely. You generally notice by the fact they seem to think Sengoku Basara game are shining example of Capcom's supremacy, despite the Koei games having larger variety, less repetitiveness and much larger character rosters.

The games don't do well in the US, but in the EU they do alright. Releasing samurai warriors 3 on wii was a bad move, by releasing a niche game on a casual console, it will be ignored.

Ultimately though Eu releases for fist of the north star and a couple of other games were announced for EU first. The pirate warriors name was also trademarked in EU first as well. All of this suggests an EU release, is likely by extension a US release possibly digital only is a possibility seeing as koei tested that out with warriors orochi 3.

That confirms my suspicions then, I've always thought Koei has been doing alright here in the EU. Either the trolls are trying too hard or people are just being too negative.

Pirate Warriors being trademarked in the EU along with the sales the game has made so far warrants an overseas release imo, although I doubt we'll see it until fall/winter at the very least. While I want to maintain a positive outlook on this I think I'm still going to go with a 50/50 attitude, that way I won't be as disappointed if worst comes to worst. The alternative is learning japanese and having it shipped over here just in case.

Thanks for the info Cuddles and Buu. Feels like I've got a somewhat better understanding of things now.
