Oh man. Had a massive nostalgia rush when I hear that air bubble sound effect.

It's hard for me to care because I always sucked at the side-scrolling Sonic games.

The EU store didn't get a demo for this. I had to go to the US one.

Wow. I will tell you the problem with this game right away. There is no momentum when you're in the air. If you run forward and jump, and then let go of forward, Sonic stops dead in mid air and just drops. He's also a little sluggish when getting moving. But once your up to speed it's fine.

There's no momentum on the ground either, actually. Once you let go of the stick/d-pad, Sonic grinds to a halt almost instantly.

Yeah the tunes and nostalgia aren't enough to save this.
Dude its up btw on EU store to buy.
Raging blast 2 and force unleashed 2 are as well.

I know it's up to buy on the EU store, but there was no trial or demo there.
If this had the same physics that the old games had it would basically be one of the old games. Hence it would be a lot of fun. I dunno, I'll keep an eye on it though and see if anything changes.

If you tried scrolling down it was right there about two rows below the game to buy.
What pissed me off was when you rolled up a ramp sonic stopped spinning and looked like a gimp in some weird ass float.
Also homing jumps are for pussies.

Pussies that bitched endlessly about his mid-air strike move in S3.
And I bet that they threw in the "use homing jump here or die" sections in the game too. -_-

Homing jump platforming is just the epitomy of shitty gameplay, it's only vaguely fun if your manually controlling it, it sucks all fun out of it if its comp controlled.

You don't seem to notice the problem of platforming when you can't actually fall off.

What is there to fall off of in Sonic? It's not like the homing jump will take you to another platform. It targets enemies and springs, and it's not automatic either.

I was referring to enslaved.
The homing jump targeting springs and enemies is the problem. If you can't make a jump cause you weren't going fast enough you have a save and that removes a lot of tension and fun. If i wanted minimal button presses to get through a game i'd be playing JRPGs.

Yeah, but missing a jump is hardly ever fatal in Sonic since the levels are so layered. Well, apart from the ones on airships and stuff.
Personally, I think the homing jump is a boost to this game since the momentum is so fucked.

Depends which sonic, Sonic 3 rarely had a bottom or spikes at the bottom i'm pretty sure death was all over the place in the others.
I guess you kinda need the homing due to the shitty momentum, but thats a really bad fix.

Well, it's been ages since I played Sonic 3/& Knuckles. Most of my experience with the genesis series has been with Sonic 1. Haven't even played Sonic 2 that much.

Sonic 2 is the best game Sonic 3 is probably the most fun, S&K is challenging and kinda annoying at times.

I wish one the various Sonic compilations was available on the PSP. The closest thing is that Genesis collection, which only has the first two.
