| This is irrelevant to most of you, but the new issue of GamesMaster just dropped on my doorstep, and Skyrim won their Game of the Year award. The review score? 98%. They really liked it. | |

| Well I'm certainly enjoying Skyrim so far, I've been playing the shit out of it lately. I'm now a level 11 Mage specialising in Destruction and Conjuration, I have about 45 in each. | |

| Anyone notice the dragons are fucked now after the patch? I seen a dragon get stuck on something in the sky then starting flying backwards then he disappeared or teleported or something.
But besides that I'm loving this game. If this had online, it'd be hands down the best game of all time imo.

| Yes supposedly this game is even more fucked after the patch that was supposed to address most issues. Same bethesda shit, different day. Like Fallout, without bugs this shit would be amazing but it just gets so frustrating to run into so many glitches or bugs. I'll probably pick this up after Christmas sometime. Xmas breaks my bank and that will give them a little more time to fix some shit. | |

| Yeah it is definitely worse after the patch, my Xbox(inb4 that's my problem) has frozen 3 times after the patch whereas beforehand there were zero freezes. | |

| lol, my game must be the only game without any gamebreaking or annoying problems. everything still going smooth here after over 40 hours of play, no backwards dragons or other gamebreaking issues at all..
maybe i'm just insanely lucky.

| The only glitch I've encountered so far is when trying to wind sprint up the stairs at the autumn watch tower (or something, can't remember the exact name), I went right through the wall and was lodged between a rock and the wall unable to get out. | |

| I chalk it less down to platform and more to the fact that Bethesda is shit at programming, not to mention animation, hiring more than 5 voice actors for games with hundreds of characters, writing stories, game balance and UI design.
I suppose it's testament to them being decent at everything else that their games usually turn out to be pretty good despite all that.

| WHEN I STARTED THE GAME I WAS TOLD I WAS DRAGONBORN. I PROCEEDED TO UPGRADE THE RESIDENTS OF WHITERUN BY CASTING DEAD THRALL AND UPGRADING THEM TO CYBERCORPSES. DRAGONS ARE INCOMPATIBLE AND WILL BE DELETED.
I USE TO UPGRADE ENTIRE TOWNS UNTIL I TOOK AN ARROW IN THE KNEE.

| Back when i was a kid you didn't earn your manhood until you stealth killed a dragon by breaking its neck. So if anything i commend the games historical accuracy. | |

also, neo how is your mage character turning out? i'm interested in making one as soon as i get tired of my assassin I gave up on it and uninstalled my pirate copy after level scaling kicked in and all my spells became useless when compared to melee I didn't even have any skill points in. I think Raz has been playing a mage with a mod that rebalances destruction magic though so I might try it again once it arrives in the mail.

| If you go with a mage, let me tell you this: Speacialising in purely offensive schools of magic is a mistake, don't do it. My focus has been on Conjuration and Destruction (with the balancing mod, probably don't even bother with it if it's as bad as Neo says) and so I've had to pick up Restoration due to my shite protection; the mage robes offer very little in the way of armour and I can't justify not having the bonuses to spell casting and magicka. That said, you feel pretty powerful most of the time, double casting fireball and causing huge explosions, but occasionally you'll fun into some fucker who resists all your spells and then it becomes fucking impossible to do anything without copious amounts of healing potions. Basically I semi solved my problem by being able to heal myself really, really quickly, and always having a bro with me to take some of the heat. Jzargo is my main bro, but I keep accidentally killing him with my level 3 destruction spells (which basically make the level 2 spells not even worth considering, the damage gap is that big) because they hit multiple targets/have area of effect damage. Which is fucking lame, and means I have to save more often than usual. You may think of going with Alteration for armour boosts and shit, but the defensive troubles stem from mages mostly, and the spell wards are in restoration. It also allows me to heal my bro, thus making levelling easier.
So basically, it looks pretty and feels powerful most of the time, but I don't know how effective it really is compared to a solid archery class or one handed with shield class.

| i was thinking of doing a mage with a good enchantment and forging skill. i was thinking of using strong enchantments in addition to my custom forged armor.
with my current character i mostly get killed by frost dragons and gang leaders that rail me with magic. i'm baffled that ice magic can wreck me so much too, especially considering i'm a nord.
