Then it came out and became a huge disappointment with no one loving it and it was generally mixed to negatively received. thats hardly hated though as a standalone film its actually arlight to good compared to the others its awful No, it is hated. Everytime you bring up SM3, the majority of people around you will say "Spider-Man 3 fucking sucked". It's a hated film, even if it was alright to some. To me, I like it but it's friggen fact that the majority despises it and thinks it's some angsty pile of shit.

- Uh, that's just a wrong thing to say. Like I said, Harry Potter is amazingly written and has been critically acclaimed far and wide by both normal people and writers themselves like Stephen King. I know more adults who like Harry Potter than I know kids. Especially the later parts are more adult-oriented. Like the seventh part had Holocaustish stuff going on that made me genuinely feel uneasy reading it.
Except that would most likely mean you read the first 3 which were certainly child orientated
i don't doubt the later considerably thicker books may have started to become more adult
its doesn't change the roots of the series They may have been child oriented, but it still attracted the attention of adult audiences. But I guess you only watched the movies (and this is a movie topic after all so I don't blame you), because it's commonly known that, especially the first two films, were incredibly downplayed so that kiddies could enjoy it more.
Even then I don't see why it being for kids is a negative. Shonen anime is aimed at kids too. The book was a childrens book most adults got into it reading it to children
and thats a fact you can try justifying those as adults books if you want though i mean they even had to rerelease the books with new covers as adults were made fun of when they read it here as it looked like a childrens book (which i still think it is) You still haven't explained why it being aimed at kids is a reason for it being awful.

That's why I posted it in this topic. Such a nig. A large group yes, but a mere cup full of water compared to an ocean of negative reactions. I don't give a shit. /end
That's how you get it done niggaz. You're just wrong.

| Most of the SM3 sales came in its first week when people didn't know it was terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if the DVD sales were poor. | |

It's like you can never have a topic with Sora around because there's always some stupid little debate. You made a topic about movies people hate that others enjoy. So I posted a list. There's nothing to argue about.

| On its international opening day on May 1, 2007 in 16 territories, Spider-Man 3 grossed $29.2 million, an 86% increase from the intake of Spider-Man 2 on its first day of release. In 10 of the 16 territories, Spider-Man 3 set new opening day records.[50] In Asian territories, the film surpassed the opening-day record of Spider-Man 2 in Japan and South Korea. Spider-Man 3 also set opening-day records in Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the Philippines.[52] In India, where the film was released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bhojpuri, the film grossed $4.66 million over the opening weekend, breaking the record set by Casino Royale in 2006 ($3.63 million).[86] In Europe, the film broke Italy's opening-day record set by 2006's The Da Vinci Code.[87] In Germany, the film surpassed the opening day gross of Spider-Man 2. In France, Spider-Man 3 broke the opening day record set by Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in 2005.[88] The film broke the opening weekend records in 29 countries, while reaching at least the number one position in all 107 countries that it opened, which brought its international total to $231 million.[89]
Spider-Man 3 set a then record $59,841,919 take for its opening day in the United States, breaking Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest 's $55.8 million record. The film also took the worldwide opening day record with $117 million.[90] The U.S. opening day take includes a record $10 million in Thursday midnight showings.[91] Spider-Man 3 broke Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest's all-time weekend debut by grossing $151,116,516 from an ultrawide release of 4,252 theaters (about 10,000 screens) for an average of about $35,540 per theater.[92] The film also set a new worldwide record for opening weekend, with a final total of $382 million.[89] As of December 3, 2007, the total gross in America was $336,530,303, making it the highest-grossing film of 2007 in the U.S., however that also stands as the lowest domestic tally in the franchise, while the worldwide total was $890,871,626. It is the third highest-grossing film worldwide in 2007 behind Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix[2] and 13th of all time. The film's IMAX screenings reached $20 million in 30 days, faster than any other 2D film remastered in the format.[93]
Home video Spider-Man 3 was released on Region 4 DVD in Australia on September 18, 2007.[94] For Region 2 in the United Kingdom, the film was released on October 15, 2007.[95] Spider-Man 3 was released on DVD in Region 1 territories on October 30, 2007. The film is available in one-disc and two-disc editions, on both standard and Blu-ray formats, as well as packages with the previous films and a PSP release.[96] Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Grant Curtis are among those who contributed to the audio commentaries.
Sony announced plans to create "one of the largest" marketing campaigns in Hollywood for the October 30, 2007 release of the DVD. Beginning with a partnership with Papa Johns, Sony printed close to 8.5 billion impressions for pizza boxes, television, radio, and online ads. Sony also worked with Pringles Potato Crisp, Blu-Tack, Jolly Time Pop Corn, and Nutella. Sony's Vice President of marketing, Jennifer Anderson, stated the studio spend approximately 15% to 25% of its marketing budget on digital ad campaigns; from this, Papa Johns sent text messages to mobile phones with ads. Anderson stated that there would be three sweepstakes held for consumers, where they would be able to win prizes from Sony and its promotional partners.[97]
In the United States, the film grossed more than $121 million on DVD sales in 18 weeks.[98] It also grossed more than $43.76 million on DVD/Home Video Rentals in 11 weeks.[99] However, the DVD sales results of this film did not meet industry expectations.[100]

dayum. uz ghey. Hype, hype, hype. I'm not debating when I'm stating facts. It wasn't WELL RECEIVED nor critically acclaimed or anything. It just made ticket sales out of hype and people with high expectations. Don't you even remember those days in 06 with all those trailers and people going "OMFG THIS WILL BE THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIMEEEEEE!!!!!!!"

That''s a large enough fanbase. I'm not even defending the fucking movie. I'm agreeing that it fucking sucks, hence me posting it in this topic.

| It's the fact it's off topic. "WHAT MOVIES DO YOU HAVE THAT EVERYONE ELSE LOVES"
Spider-Man 3 is loved by a minority and it's literally taboo to say "SM3 was awesome" or "SM3 > SM1 and SM2" to most people.

| Large enough would have it getting oscar nominations and people not shutting up about its greatness. All it is, is something hated and only made money through hype. That is NOT enough. | |

| It's an argument about "This film is hated by everyone else except for a small amount of pricks" vs "I hate this film and a lot of pricks love it!"
The latter being false and really being "I hate this film and a majority of pricks got cheated into seeing something they will hate with a minority actually enjoying it!"

The latter being false and really being "I hate this film and a majority of pricks got cheated into seeing something they will hate with a minority actually enjoying it!" its crazy how much criticism a film will get if its linked to something i mean if this wasn't a spider-man film or if this hadnt been part of a trilogy i doubt anyone would of made as big a deal

| Exactly. It was just hyped up crap. Without it being Spidey, it would've been a film heavily criticised even more about "a man who cashes in on the latest fad: emo(not as in the angst shit) fashion senses and crappy hair styles!" | |

The latter being false and really being "I hate this film and a majority of pricks got cheated into seeing something they will hate with a minority actually enjoying it!" its crazy how much criticism a film will get if its linked to something i mean if this wasn't a spider-man film or if this hadnt been part of a trilogy i doubt anyone would of made as big a deal No, if it was about some new superhero it'd still get criticism because it was just a bad film with 1000 plotlines and emos. Just like how DBE was a bad film, not because it ruined the Dragon Ball mythos, but because it was afwully crafted.
