Breath of Fire 2, Sokuiden 2 (probably spelling it wrong), and Chrono Trigger are masterpieces of story telling. (In terms of JRPGs)

XIII has been cool to hate since its inception. At the very least, VII and X were very popular upon release. But starting maybe 6-8 years ago, lasting up until FFX's HD release was announced, VII became the Final Fantasy that everyone loved to shit on. Now everyone loves to say that X is shit. Though I can at least say that some people here that I knew from early RD days/DBD voiced their dissent for X before it was cool.

To be perfectly honest, VII and X have always been my favorites and I love the gameplay and story for both. In fact, I just got done streaming FFX on Sunday. Everything is up on my YouTube channel *shameless plugging*.

I knew about the FF7 hate before I even played the game. I tried to avoid it. But some of things these people said were right. But the same time, they were wrong about some things. Gameplay was fantastic.

I don't know about this FFX hate. I knew I just like the game. Didn't understand the story too much. Probably should play it again.

Never played FFX-2. Can't tell if that is good or not. I heard nothing but shit.

Yes, I was those ages when they were released. But I didn't play any of them at those ages, with the exception of 10 (Well a year after the release, but whatever). Should play it again.

Last FF game I played was 6. My god, I wished I play this game sooner by the deep characters, insane great gameplay, and Kefka.

Call him a Joker knock off all you want, but he did something I think almost very few villains do.

The only FF game I haven't play is 5 and 2. 1,3 and 4, though good, weren't really special to me.

FF6 is a good game, but to say it is a masterpiece is fucking stupid. Half of the cast barely existed (A problem with like most FF games), it has melodrama up the ass (Not as much as FF8, hoo boy), the gameplay mechanics are the fucking most bare bones breakable shit in the series and unbelievably low effort, and the characters that are good still fall victim to incredibly stupid scenes and fall to the wayside.

The biggest strength and weakness of FF6 is that it is incredibly open. This is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you are. Because of it being open it allows for more exploration, but at the same time it also gives you little to no direction whatsoever and at the halfway point just throws you into the game being like "Yeah, whatever. Go find people." The main character is multiple characters, so this means you get a good selection of characters to like and focus on. Unfortunately, this also means half of the cast is undeveloped and barely focused upon, and only like four or five characters actually have full character resolution by the end of the game.

FF6 has a better story than 7, but it's gameplay is fucking bad. Especially since it splits up your team so god damn much and the final dungeon is seriously one of the worst final dungeons in Final Fantasy history topped off by a shitty final boss so long that the theme for him literally clocks at 16 minutes. Kefka as a villain is also its own can of worms I won't open because at the end of the day I thought he was handled fine, but he just sort of loses any focus he had in the second half of the game.

Dude, he's one of the most iconic and powerful party members in all of Final Fantasy. You can't actually control him, but he's really there behind everyone doing all the actual attacks.

Why do I feel like this sounds like it's from The Fast and the Furious for some strange reason?

This is probably better then some of the other final fantasy's in terms of combat. You actually need to pay attention in battle to this one.

Story wise its alright seems like the same thing I'm expecting a big fight with apparent big bad and then real big bad shows up, which is a staple of final fantasy.

Characters are the bigger issue. Lightning and Vanille just come across as bitchy and fucking annoying. Hope is a kid so despite being annoying I can forgive that because he seems to be one of the strongest. Fang is bland, but by far the best female and she's got no negative traits and her accent is so much better then the actual australian in the game. Sazh I really couldn't care less about, but he's not annoying his cheesy character portrait is great though. Snow is probably my favourite he's all talk etc, but he doesn't look like a big girl and he does hilarious things like jumping off things in the most painful looking way possible and generally doing a bunch of things that should kill him, plus he seems like a good guy so i can't really hate on him (also troy baker).
