English title: “Unlucky Break”

Dub Goku: Show him what a Saiyan’s made of!

I find this out of character.

The rest of Gohan’s Mystic transformation + Goku’s final goodbye are pretty damn awesome in the dub.

DBZ episode 263

Japanese title: “Boo Overwhelmed!! Gohan’s Miracle Power”
English title: “A Whole New Gohan”

Buu: So, hotshot, you want to fight Majin Buu?
Gohan: Fight you? No, I want to kill you.

Possibly the best exchange in the entire series.

Japanese Gohan actually calls Buu a retard at one point. That’s right. Gohan sneaks up on Buu and when the pink moron turns around Gohan just says “you retard.” Now I’m even more convinced that Mystic Gohan is the best incarnation of all the Gohans.

This episode started with Buu becoming mad at Gohan’s last retort and Goten, Trunks and Piccolo completely freaking out over it. xD

Piccolo: The balls are inert!

English title: “Majin-Buu Transforms”

Gohan: I’m tougher than Gotenks and smarter than Piccolo.

Oh, lawdy. Though if we were to go by just the last few eps then Gohan would indeed be smarter than Piccolo, who has been nothing more than a dumbass.

Super Buu 2’s mind games are a nice add in the dub. In the original, he’s extremely bland. Also, I can’t believe that people argue that Goku put up a better fight against Buu than Gohan did. Gohan has been fighting hand to hand for half of the episode and has only been hit a few times, while Goku was getting owned all over the place and immediately had to resort to spamming ki blasts.

DBZ episode 266

Japanese title: “For the Sake of the Entire Universe... Return to Life, Son Goku”
English title: “The Old Kai’s Weapon”

Even when he’s being beaten down, Gohan’s still awesome.

This episode also saw the return of Ginga Giri Giri. This time it plays when everyone thinks Old Kaioshin is gone.

DBZ episode 267

Japanese title: “The Miracle Happens Once... Will the Super Combination With Gohan Come About?”
English title: “Ready to Fuse?”

Dub Buu doesn’t mention that Gohan hasn’t gotten a zenkai.

In the anime it’s pretty clear that Goku threw the earring wrong. It doesn’t even land near Gohan.

In the original Goku says that Gohan can beat Buu now. In the dub he says “You don’t plan on beating me like that, do you?” Take that as you will. Maybe it was a bluff, but probably FUNi was just being dumb as fuck.

Neither the sub nor the manga have Goku mention himself at that point. It's just another bad dub line.

Gohan was clutching his chest in pain here. That, together with the random throwing of the potara, is the reason why Gohan didn't catch it.

I know it's a bad plot device, but I'm tired of the endless "Gohan is a moron" complaints.

Every time dub Buu blows up a planet he absorbs a little of its life energy and becomes stronger. And then he makes a blast out of it. How do they come up with this stuff?

FUNi again proves they know jack shit about attacks when they have a couple of Kamikaze Ghosts shout out Gallic Gun when the ghosts are clearly doing a Masenko (this is also what they shout out in the original). VEGETA HASN’T EVEN BEEN ABSORBED!! At least try to act like you know what you’re dubbing here.

DBZ episode 272

Japanese title: “A Hero Lost!? Vegetto is Absorbed”
English title: “The Incredible Fighting Candy”

Vegetto: I am not an ordinary piece of candy! I am a jawbreaker!

In the original, Vegetto already says that his plan is to get absorbed. In the dub, he instead thinks about how he’s going to kill Buu. And instead of “Barrier!” he says “Blast it!”.
