| It'd have to be pretty bad to out-stupid Minus, though. That one-shot went and damaged classic DB lore just for the sake of showcasing Goku's kitchen dwelling mom. | |

| Gohan is more similar to Future Gohan now. I'm sure many will be happy about this development. | |

| I'm not too picky on the design, but it bugs me due to how it was established that Goku had absorbed the SSJG power and didn't need to become a god again to utilize it, so him suddenly getting a new God form thingy alongside Veggie is pretty meh. Guess they couldn't allow SSJG to fade into nothingness and decided Goku MUST have a new thing to change into. Super Saiyan has finally gone through the RYB model, though. Yellow, Red, and now Blue. The next movie should give him long flowing rainbow hair. THE SUPER SAIYAN TECHNICOLOR GOD! Edit: So apparently it's not entirely a new form, but it's actually what Super Saiyan looks like now after SSJG's power is absorbed. I guess Veggie went God off-screen or something before the film began. - Spoiler:
Also, Vegeta dies and the Earth gets blown up during the battle, but it doesn't really matter much(even more so than usual) as Whis reverses time at the end of the film.
Also, the biggest shocker ever is that the movie apparently flips everything upside down and has Gohan saving Piccolo at one point. Edgy move, Toei.

| Goku steals Vegeta's kill. They can't let anyone other than Goku save the day. | |

| Whis saved the day.
It'd actually be kind of hilarious had Veggie turned out to be the big hero. Then Whis comes in and does THAT.

He saved him in Buu saga as well.

He saved him in Buu saga as well. This is specifically concerning only the movies. DBZ film logic usually dictates that Piccolo must conveniently appear out of nowhere to save/assist Gohan's ass, then get in a few hits against the major enemy, and fail splendidly. This started to fade away with the second Broly film when Krillin stole his role, and then Piccolo just didn't bother showing up after that because he took offense to Krillin tried to cosplay as him.

| While it's pretty easy to blame Toriyama for all of the film's faults, I think the poor choice of a director is partly responsible for the film's stupidity and mindlessness. They gave the job to a guy who mainly served as a character designer, animator and animation supervisor in the past. They need someone who has had more experience in the director's chair and can keep a tight leash on Toriyama, knowing what ideas of his to cut/change and what to leave in. | |

| Freeza eyes Gohan and knocks him down with a single blast. Kuririn panics when he realize that Gohan has no pulse. There’s no way for him to eat a senzu like this, either…! Piccolo uses a kiai as a form of chest-compression which gets Gohan’s heart beating and enables him to down the second-to-last senzu.
What the fuck. | |

| That's not worse than GT, but it's pretty damn anti-climactic. It seems for the most part that the movie just sort of becomes about Freeza being insanely arrogant and reality ensuing, but there was more that could've been done with this than "Freeza does a new thing, but loses to Goku, although due to Goku being dumb he gets nearly killed. So then Vegeta does a thing only for Freeza to blow up the planet and then Whis saves the day."
It's not nearly as good as Battle of Gods it sounds like and that's unfortunate. This movie finally gave Vegeta a chance to be the cool guy and he seems like he's standing at the sidelines most of the time until the end which is boring.

| Well at least Vegeta has done something I think last time he was useful was when he ripped off that one dudes arms. I'm aware he did stuff in the buu saga but he was just delaying people fo the most part as goku hax saved the day again.
In the movies I don't remember him really doing anything either.

| Yeah, it's pretty shitty how bad Gohan is getting it. One of the most powerful beings in the universe at one point, brought down to the fucking level of a SS1 and had to be brought back to life after fighting Freeza's fucking minions. | |

| Pretty much. This is a guy who was beating the hell out of someone SSJ3 Goku didn't want to fight, and now he's lost so much power he's fodder? Bah. | |

| The most questionable thing of all is how he just "suddenly" lost his Ultimate/Mystic state. In BoG, he had still remained in that form since the Buu arc(going by his facial designs and the even more telling power up and fight sequence against Beerus), only he could also go SSJ as well for some reason. Now in RoF, just because he relaxed for a while due to his newborn child, he doesn't get to remain in that state anymore?
I hope a later film rectifies this and gives him the spotlight once again. Not just for the sake of giving him back his dignity, but also for consistency as he still retained those distinct Ultimate facial changes in the final chapter. RoF actually went out of its way to show Gohan's face going back to a more "base" look, so who knows?

| I think giving birth took its toll on Gohan.
BTW why on earth was the film called resurrection of F and not Frieza? Was it supposed to be a big mystery?
