You can have a 'pet' (Rex and ED-E) and a companion.

He's not bad, whether he's better than Rex or not depends on your style and other companion.

I went through most of the game with Boone and ED-E, they work pretty well together.

I thought everyone in this game could die except one. Well going by what Neo said anyways.

cassidy and veronica never died in my games so i usually have them tag along. i used boone up until it went "Boone has Died!"

That could also happen if he walked off a cliff, and stuff like that will happen in a glitchfest like this.

Every NPC except one can die, not counting your current companions while playing normal mode who will go unconscious. On hardcore they can all die.

I'm amazed Boone managed to get himself anywhere near killed in the first place. I play on modded hardcore that's significantly harder than the vanilla game and the fucker is still nigh invincible.

i had to tell him to fuck off so he wouldn't die and then i dealt with the enemies myself

See now i know why i die when we play together its nothing to do with my skill level

No one dies if its not on hardcore. Every single one of the mwent unconscious after losing all their HP when I played through. And I had every single companion with me at some point in the game. Rex/Lily was probably the most useful in my mind.

An awesome card game. It really is a lot of fun.

so worth learning?

In the game? Not really. You wont be winning a huge amount of money from it, but I really like gambling and cards and it's a very interesting game. Especially when you consider the fact that the decks are customizable.
