| i literally stared at this for a good 5-10, 40 dollars is a good deal for a game like this that has been only out for like a month, but i wasn't sure whether i would like this as i got bored of fallout 3 and pretty much thought they'd be the same game with a new story. either way i took a deep breath and decided to get this. i've only played through the tutorial and so far the only differences i've noticed are: 1) you can customize weapons, how deep the customization is i don't know, from talking to people i know you can add scopes, suppressors and larger magazines. 2) there is abilities similar to perks you can choose at the start of the game without leveling, all give you a bonus at the cost of something else. (i.e faster fire rate at the cost of lower accuracy, faster grenade throws sacrificing range, more AP points for VATS but you do less damage, etc.) you can choose up to 2 of these or none at all. 3) there were extra option modes as well such as hardcore mode which changes some things around, the only thing i can remember is that stimpaks heal over time and cannot heal limb damage. also an option called "true iron sights" which i guess you just aim down the actual sights of the gun instead of cross hairs on the screen. edit: 4) just remembered i think big guns and small guns were put together to just guns and a new skill was added, survival. this skill determines how much health you get from food and drink sources and how well you can make meals at a campfires 5) Hardcore mode generally turns this into an actual survival game, you don't eat, you starve to death. you don't drink you, dehydrate to death. and i think if you don't sleep you become exhausted. fast travel time is also factored into these situations 6) the bad guy good guy karma has been separated so that certain groups of people like you while others won't, so far i have seen at least four factions 7) it looks like you can earn perks by fulfilling certain conditions, i got a perk from killing a number of mutated insects. companions now give you perks as long as they're traveling with you, also en you dont want to travel with them you can tell them to wait for you in your hotel suite that you get in new vegas. 9) you can gamble at new vegas and earn an assload of caps i'll update this more as i play through this more

| well, i played a bit more before i went to sleep last night, and this seems a bit harder than 3. i don't know if i am venturing too far from the starting point or what, but i am fighting monsters that can kill me in a 5-6 hits and i have to unload about half my ammo in them to kill them.
but really i don't think i'm going that far from the starting point though....

| I care but you didn't say much other then you got owned.
Tag spoilers though, but i wanna know about the cool shit you can do. Also if there is a point to being a melee, as last game i couldn't see much of a point especially with stuff like lincolns repeater.

| Unarmed is outright overpowered in New Vegas. I had about 20 Unarmed and was doing similar damage with my Brass Knuckles than with my 70 Guns skill and a Hunting Rifle. On top of that there are a few perks which really help for hand to hand combat, and some bonus techniques you can unlock. I'm making my next playthrough based around it. | |

| I find it hard to do multiple playthroughs of these games as i normally end up maxing my character and just using whatever i think is most badass.
I really do need to finish oblivion though. I completely did evrything possible in Fallout 3 and that took time.

| Ah, with this you'll want to do more than one as there are a few different endings depending on which faction you choose to help, it can also result in a completely different experience. | |

Oh sweet this had a price drop but honestly i want a GOTY edition as i know these games are as buggy as hell and that face bug looked fucking creepy. - Mr. Ryuji wrote:

i forgot to mention about the bugs this game has but so far i have only locked up once though, so it doesn't seem to bad.
i'm saving in fear of dying more than i am of getting a weird glitch....

| Yeah, the glitches are certainly irritating, but not quite gamebreaking. You just have to remember to save often. | |

I really do need to finish oblivion though. I completely did evrything possible in Fallout 3 and that took time. It's not possible to max out your character or finish every quest in New Vegas, you simply don't get enough skill points even with books and a lot of the quests are mutually exclusive. When you've finished the game you're guaranteed to have 'missed' a few big quests due to your choices.

| update
played this a shitload more yesterday, seeing new vegas in the distance itself was pretty good too as you proceed with the main quest you will eventually end up here. it is extremely easy to see with all the bright lights around it.
new vegas really impressed me (the town). i was very pleased to see the fact that the attempt to rebuild civilization was more than just tents, busted old buildings, and garbage used for make shift houses.
the first thing i did was gamble at the casinos, it is easy to make an assload of money there, though i am assuming i won a lot because of my luck stat. eventually, i got kicked out of 3 casinos for winning too much. needless to say, i was pissed so i killed them all. (of course i loaded after since im trying really hard to be a good guy) most of the casinos themselves weren't run down either. most were very nice, especially the high roller suite you get for free, it wasn't a piece of shit at all to look at
hpwever, after getting to new vegas, i have been freezing up a shitload. i don't think it is because of the length i play, as i normally let my ps3 rest for 30-60 minutes after 2-4 hours of play. it's really starting to frustrate me because i normally have to resort to force shutdowns, which i heard is bad for the ps3.

| My theory is th bigger your game save gets the more it freezes. Freezing became exponentially worse for me during this game | |

You're right, but they're both a result of the same thing. The bigger your save is, the more information it's keeping track of, the more information it's keeping track of, the more likely it will freeze.

| Yeah i kinda wish they didn't keep track of where i ended up picking up and accidentally dropped a cup in a room i visited some 30 hours ago, seems kinda pointless.
Interesting fact soul reaver kept track of all items to in fact i accidentally launched a spear into a ceiling in one part of the game and remember spotting it like 20 hours later that game never froxe it was just epic.

| I did get more than my share of framerate drops in SR, That didn't stop it from being one of the best games ever though. | |

Oh wow your like the only other person who's actually played this game here. I honestly don't remember SR ever having frame rate issues. Nothing is as satisfying as impaling a vampire or disintegrating one with the soul reaver.

| Eh then it was probably cause mine was preowned then.
Everyone owes it to themselves to play the LoK games tho. Especially after all that gay twilight shit, I had to replay them all just to reassure myself that vampires are still awesome.
