| I mean that if you choose to ignore every other factor in the scene other than the the mention of rape then you can similarly break any joke. The joke in that scene is that Jay is trying to be self-righteous and holier than thou and ends up causing the precise thing he was trying to prevent.
You could mentally supplant the fear of rape for the fear of being killed, robbed or enslaved. In that instance, would the joke become a "kill/rob/slave" joke? No, because the punchline wouldn't change. Context is important.

| I saw The Room recently.
Everyone had told me it was "literally the worst film ever made", and that I had to watch it to laugh at it. I didn't realise it was literally the worst film ever made. The acting is beyond awful, the script sounds it was written by someone with no concept of how people actually talk to each other, and the story is just a melodramatic joke.
Do not, under any circumstances, watch this godawful piece-of-shit. It's not even worth it to laugh it.

Garbage-piece-of-shit film and it's garbage-piece-of-shit-dialogue, with garbage-piece-of-shit-actors and their garbage-piece-of-shit-delivery.

| Rurouni Kenshin
loved this anime when I was younger, apparently there's a 2012 live action movie about it.
it's pretty good, it's very true to the anime, it pretty much follows it completely as far as I can recall. it doesn't cover the entire story though, it ends after Kenshin saves Kaoru from the fake Battosai and he brings her home.
apparently there's gonna be 2 more movies though to cover the entire story with Shishio.
but as I said, it's pretty good, it's also in Japanese and as I said, pretty true to the anime, so if you loved that, you're gonna love the movie.

| I saw Gravity at the cinema last week. The Mrs really enjoyed it, saying it was "edge-of-the-seat" tense, but I found it underwhelming. I'm not Sandra Bullock's biggest fan - I find her quite annoying actually - so her in space alone for extended periods, only broken up by occasional bits with George Clooney, really was a hard sell. Strong use of 3D and some very impressive visual effects aside, it felt rather soulless. I don't quite understand some of the critical reception it has had. | |

| watched kick ass 2 last night. gotta say its as good as the first one, i got a bit confused with hit girl being 15 & having a super bike (i mean motor bike, not super powered) and also the after credits scene was stupid but definately worth the watch | |

Garbage-piece-of-shit film and it's garbage-piece-of-shit-dialogue, with garbage-piece-of-shit-actors and their garbage-piece-of-shit-delivery. It's quotable Tommy Wiseau is a genius, he sold his personal porn flick as a movie

| just watched gravity, have to agree with sim on his point... effects were amazingly good but the story seemed to consist of everything that can go wrong will go wrong, it just felt too far fetched to be taken seriously | |

| THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS
I watched this film many times now & i urge everyone to watch it. its about a german family in the second world war, the dad is an ss soldier who moves his family to be next to a jewish concentration camp where his son makes friends with a little boy behind the fence. I wont give any more away than that, also it is completely english dialogue so you dont need to read subs while trying to watch it

| I saw Sharknado yesterday.
It may be well on the way to being a cult classic of the so-bad-it's-good variety, but it was pretty much just flat out awful. Acting, special effects, script, story... all were woeful.

| watched 12 years a slave last night, i was expecting good things from what i heard & to be fair it was good but not worth the hype. There was some disturbing scenes (brad pitts Amish look & some flogging scenes) story wise this could have been a masterpiece but in reality it really wasnt | |

| because it isn't. a lot of the stuff is just a rehash from the first movie in a slightly different coating. I constantly had the feeling that i already saw it before. | |
