Episode 7: The Other 48 Days

Not an episode for anyone in particular, it just told the story of the other survivors. The first night they were on the island the Others came and took 3 of them. They tried to take Mr. Echo too but he killed two of them. He stopped talking at that point.

Two weeks later the others came again and took nine people. Analucia killed one of them and found a list in her pocket of all the people they were supposed to take. Needless to say this freaked everyone out, so they moved off the beach. Analucia suspected that one of the Others had infiltrated the group from the start and was telling the Others about them. So she dug a big hole and threw a guy called Jake in there.

It was Goodwin who was the Other though. He killed Jake in the night, and then Analucia killed him. But he said something odd. He was talking about Jake, and he said he killed him because Jake wasn't a good person, and that's why he wasn't on the list. After 40 days Mr. Echo started talking again. Also, that radio broadcast that Boon picked up when he was in the old plane was the other survivors.

So they've had a pretty rough time.

Episode 8: Collision

1st Analucia episode. Sayid tried to kill Analucia because she killed Shannon, so she tied him to a tree. Mr. Echo left to take Sawyer to the main camp so he could get help, what with his infected bullet wound and all. The others gradually left Analucia too, because she's a crazy bitch from the look of it.

Her flash backs were about her coming back to work as a cop after being shot and nearly killed. They found the guy that did it, but she refused to identify him. Then she found him while he was out and killed him herself, because she was pregnant when she got shot.

She let Sayid go in the end. It was an okay episode.

Episode 9: What Kate Did

Oh hey, we're gonna find out what Kate did.

She killed her dad.

...

Woohoo.

Also, Locke showed that orientation film to Mr. Echo and Michael. Mr. Echo had some interesting input on it. On his side of the island, the other survivors found a bomb shelter or something, and in it was a bible. In the bible was a piece of film, which was the missing piece of the film Locke had. In the missing piece, the Dharma guy talks about how the computer must not be used for anything other than entering the code.

But, while Michael is in the computer room, he sees a message on the screen. "Hello" it says. "Hello" Michael says. "Who are you?" it says. "I'm Michael" he says. "Dad?" it says. END OF EPISODE.

Episode 10: The 23rd Psalm

1st Echo episode. As a child, he was taken by mercenaries and he became a ganglord or something. His brother became a priest. He went to his brother to ask for help trafficking some drugs, using a Catholic Aid flight as cover, and hiding the drugs inside virgin Mary statues. Sound familiar? That was the plane that crashed on the island. Pretty big coincidence yeah? Anyway, he burned the plane.

Also, Locke was giving Michael shooting lessons.

Episode 11: The Hunting Party

5th Jack episode. Michael ran off to find Walt again. He said he had to do it alone, but of course Jack went after him like the annoying hero he is. Sawyer and Locke went too, but he told Kate to stay behind. They walked around a bit and eventually the Others came to meet them.

It was the bearded guy from the boat that took walk. I'll call him Beard Man. Beard Man said that Walt was fine, and that he was a special boy. He said Michael would never find them. He gave them a lecture about how this was "our island". He told that he was drawing a line, and that if they crossed it, they would pay. If they didn't, then they could live on the island just fine. Then he told them to put down their weapons and go back.

Jack said no (surprise surprise). Then he brought out Kate, who had followed them (like the boring idiot she is), and threatened to kill her. So they went back. Then Jack asked Analucia how long it would take to train an army.

I don't like Jack.

Episode 12: Fire + Water

3rd Charlie episode. Charlie went mad and stole the baby a couple times. Thought he had to save it or something. I dunno, can't remember much. Seems liking nothing has really happened since the other survivors joined up with the main guys. Its' getting a bit boring.

Episode 13: The Long Con

3rd Sawyer episode. Can't Sawyer just die already? The man is a total asshole. Seriously, he's such a prick. Through some long process he conned everyone to get his hands on all the guns in the hatch, and now he's the only one who knows where are, all because of the usual shit. "You touched my stuff blah blah", "I'm not a good person blah blah", "stop liking me boo hoo". What a complete fucker. Definitely my most hated character now.

Episode 14: One of Them

3rd Sayid episode. The french woman captured a man in the jungle. She says he is one of them. Sayid brought him back and they locked him in the hatch. He says his name is Henry Gale and he crashed on the island with his wife in a hot air balloon. Sayid didn't believe him.

Also, the timer on the button ran out. The numbers flicked into a black and red symbols, and it sounded like some machine was powering up, but Locke put in the code and everything went back to normal.

Episode 15: Maternity Leave

2nd Claire episode. In this one her flash backs were about what happened to her when Ethan took her, since she started to remember. He was pretty nice to her really, apart from keeping her doped up all the time. Him and the others were vaccinating the baby or something. They were going to cut it out of her and keep it, but a girl (who seems to be the french woman's daughter) rescued her.

Claire, Kate and Danielle (the french woman) went into the jungle to find where they had kept Claire, but it was all abandoned. Kate found a bunch of old clothes though, and fakes beards and theatrical clue and stuff. So it seems that the Others's scruffy appearance is all an act. How interesting.

Episode 16: The Whole Truth

4th Sun/Jin episode. Sun is pregnant. That's pretty much the gist of this episode. Although Jin is supposed to be infertile. But hey, Locke can walk now so maybe Jin's sperm got cured too.

Episode 17: Lockdown

4th Locke episode. For some unknown reason the hatch put itself into lockdown. All the blast doors came down, cutting Locke off from the button. He let Henry out to help to pry up a blast door, but Locke's leg got trapped underneath one. Henry crawled through a vent to push the button, but he must have been late or something. That noise started again, like a machine powering up, and then in the room Locke was in, all the lights went out. Then balck lights turned on, and on the wall in front of him was a... map? I dunno. An octagon with a bunch of scribbles and symbols on it.

Meanwhile Analucia, Charlie, and Sayid went off to look for Henry's balloon to corroborate his story. They found the balloon, and his wife's grave. However, when they came back, Sayid said that he still didn't believe it, and so he had dug up the grave. In the grave was a man, and the man's driving license said his name was Henry Gale.

So, looks like "Henry" really is an Other.

Episode 18 - Dave

3rd Hurley episode. Not as great as Everybody Hates Hugo, but still good, especially since Hurley beat Sawyer up. That was awesome. Hurley has a crush on Libby, who was one of the survivors from Analucia's group. He also had a secret stash of food, and she helped him get rid of it so he could change. But a Dharma supply drop messed everything up because there was suddenly more food. Then Hurley started seeing an imaginary man called Dave.

His flash backs were about his time in the mental hospital. Hurley was involved in an accident than killed two people, because a deck collapsed while he was on it. It was seriously overloaded without him, but he still blamed how fat he was for the two deaths. The imaginary Dave guy stops Hurley from losing weight and junk.

Sawyer made fun of Hurley for seeing things, and Hurley kicked his ass. Hurley and Libby kissed at the end. Also, Charlie and Echo are building a church.

Episode 19 - SOS

1st Rose and Bernard episode. Some of these details might be from the last episode, I can't remember where they came from exactly. This episode provided something of an explanation for why the island cured John. Rose and Bernard were recently married, but she has a terminal illness of some sort. Bernard took her to a faith healer, who said that certain places on the Earth have a special energy. He said it might be geological/magnetic (the island and magnetism go together), or it might be something else.

He couldn't cure her though, but she told Bernard he had cured her so he wouldn't spend the rest of her life worrying and shit. However, the island has cured her. Bernard spent the whole episode trying to build an SOS sign to get off the island, but at the end he realised Rose wanted to stay, so he stopped.

Anyway, back with fake Henry Gale. A bunch of people have talked to him. He's said that he can't tell them anything because "he" will kill him. So the Others have some big bad boss, and it's not the guy with the fake beard that Jack spoke to. "He's nothing" apparently. in this episode, Jack got the idea to try to trade Henry for Walt, even though Henry said they would never give up Walt. So Jack and Kate went out to the line to call out the Others. They weren't there. However, Michael was.

Episode 20: Two For The Road

2nd Analucia episode. Holy shit were some shockers in this one. Henry tried to kill Analucia, but John knocked him out with a crutch, so she had it in for Henry for the rest of the episode. She slept with Sawyer to distract him so she could steal his gun. She wanted to kill Henry, but in the end she couldn't.

Meanwhile Michael told everyone what he found. He said he found a camp where the Others lived, and that they were worse off than the plane survivors, all dirty and ill-fed and stuff. Why no one brought up the fact that they dirty smelly look was all fake I don't know. Anyway, everyone went off to get the guns back from Sawyer so they could attack the Others.

So it was just Analucia and Michael in the hatch. Analucia told Michael she couldn't kill Henry, so Michael said he would. Once he had the gun though, he shot Analucia. Then Libby walked in at the wrong moment and he shot her too. He shot Libby. Which is a bummer, because her and Hurley were getting on. Then he opened to vault where Henry was, and right at the end of the episode he shot himself in the shoulder.

My guess is the Others told Michael to break their guy out in exchange for Walt or something.

Also, going back a few episodes, I think Locke's father is going to turn out to be the con man that made Sawyers dad kill himself and his wife (that is, Sawyer's mother). Locke's dad appears to be an experienced conman, and Locke was curious about why Sawyer picked the name Sawyer, since he knew it wasn't his real name.

Episode 21: ?

2nd Echo episode. Now this is more like it. Echo and Locke out mystery hunting. Locke has been a bit boring in the second series, just sitting in the hatch not doing much. He's been a bit disillusioned for the past few episode too, since during that lockdown in the hatch, Henry had to push the button and Locke couldn't see him. Later Henry told John that he never pushed the button, and he's been a bit annoyed ever since.

Anyway, Echo had a dream where his brother told him to help John, and to find the question mark. So they went hiking out into the jungle, trying to follow Locke's scribbled copy of that diagram he saw on the blast door. Locke had a dream about Echo's brother too, which was weird.

They found another hatch, called The Pearl. It was an observation room, and they could see Jack back in their hatch. They found an orientation video that said their job was to observe an experiment, and that the people in the experiment weren't aware of it, but believe that their work was very important. So John's even more upset about the button now, but Echo is convinced it needs to be pushed, since his dream said so.

Also, in Echo's flashbacks, he was investigating a miracle of a girl coming back to life. The girl's father was the psychic that Claire went to see in her first episode. He said he was a fraud though, so I'm not sure why he said all that stuff to Claire and made her get on the plane.

Episode 22: Three Minutes

This episode told the story of what happened to Michael while he was off in the jungle. The others caught him and took him to their camp, and kept him there for a week or so. A woman called Ms. Clue came out and started asking Michael questions about Walt, like "Has he ever appeared in a place where he wasn't supposed to be?". Yeah, that one rang some alarm bells. Just what is the deal with Walt?

Anyway, they let Michael see Walt for a moment, and Walt said they were making him to tests or something, and that they were lying about who they were. Then Ms. Clue told Michael that he and Walt could go free together if Michael went back to the beach and freed Henry. She also told him to bring Jack, Sawyer, Kate and Hurley back with him. Which he is doing, under the pretense that they are all going to get Walt back.

Sayid wanted to come, but Michael said no, and now Sayid has guessed that Michael is leading everyone into a trap. At the end of the episode they buried Ana and Libby. During the buriel, Sun saw a sail boat out in the ocean, but then the episode ended.

Season 2 Finale: Live Together, Die Alone

1st Desmond episode. Well, a lot to get through. That boat at the end of the last episode was Desmond's boat. The one he got to the island on. So Desmond's back. His flashbacks were about his getting to the island and such. He used to be in the army, but he got sent to prison. When he got out his girlfriend's dad offered him loads of money to stay away from her. He turned it down but apparently he stayed away from her anyway.

The dad was sponsoring some round the world boat race, which is why Desmond entered, to get his honour back. But he ended up on the island, so it didn't go so well. The guy that was in the hatch when he arrived is a familiar face. He appeared in one of Sayid's episodes, an American soldier. He and his partner are the ones who painted that luminous map thing on the blast doors. He also told Desmond about the emergency shut off switch for the system.

Anyway, Jack, Kate, Michael, Sawyer and Hurley walk across the island to get to the Others. Sayid, Jin and Sun sail around the island to meet them there as back up. Well, Sayid is back up, Jin and Sun just help him sail the boat. When Sayid reaches the camp, it's abandoned. Michael was leading them somewhere else. Along the way they find a massive pile of plastic tubes filled with note books from The Pearl. Seems when they get sent up the pipes they just go nowhere, so the experiment was on them, and not on other hatch.

Which is bad news, because Locke freaks out and decides no one is going to push that button. He and Desmond trigger a lockdown and lock Echo out so he can't push the button. But when Desmond sees the print outs from The Pearl, he changes his mind. The printouts show each successive input of the code. But, there was one day when he didn't input the code. He was out and came back late, and all kinds of shit was happening. All the metal stuff was flying towards that wall and it was all noisy and crap.

That day was the day that the plane crashed on the island. Desmond caused it by not pushing the button in time. Which I have to admit is a pretty good way to wrap some big chunks of the story up. Desmond goes down to use the emergency shut off, and that's the last we see of the hatch in the episode. There's a loud noise and a big white flash all across the island. Don't know what happened to Locke, Echo and Desmond. Locke's got to be alive though.

Anyway, Michael gives his friends to the Others and gets Walt back. He sails off in that little boat they had. They told him to go a certain direction and he would be saved, and that he would never be able to find the island again once he left. They let Hurley go so he could tell everyone back at the beach to never come to this part of the island.

And right at the end of the episode, it cut to two guys in the Arctic or something, in some little monitoring station. There was a little red blinking light and a screen that said "Electro magnetic anomaly". They started panicking and one of them picked up the phone and called... Desmond's old girlfriend. "I think we've found it" he says. Then the episode ends.

Oh, and one other thing, which I always remembered because it seemed so phenomenally silly and ridiculous. While sailing around the island, Sayid, Jin, and Sun saw a giant foot that presumably was once part of a giant statue. And it only had 4 toes. No, one of them hadn't been knocked off or anything, it just only had 4 toes.

So yeah, that's season 2 complete. That is the extent of my prior knowledge of Lost, so from here on it's all new.

Overall, I preferred the first season. Season 2 was good for the first few episodes, and the last few episode, but the 14 or so episodes in between weren't that interesting. Too much time just spent in the hatch not doing much.

Favourite episodes so far are Exodus Part 1 and Everybody Hates Hugo.

Episode 1 to 6 and episode 9 of season 3 are the worst stretch of episodes in Lost. Episode 8 and 10 to 22 are the best episodes.

Season 2 finale was probably the worst finale. The flashback was great, but the on-island stuff was incredibly stupid (Jack knows Michael is purposely walking into a trap with only one man as back-up. REALLY? Desmond knows crazy happened when he pushed the button, but he's still willing to help Locke. REALLY?)

And Everybody Hates Hurley is pretty bad. Hurley was incredibly annoying in it. It has nothing on amazing character pieces like The Moth and Deus Ex Machina. Hurley's season 3 episode is his best and probably the funniest episode in the series.
