Whatever the Case May Be and Born to Run are the worst episodes in season 1 and the only two episodes in the first season I'd call genuinely bad.

I liked the little scenes with Charlie and Rose, and Shannon and Sayid. But the episode was mainly Jack, Kate and Sawyer. All of whom I don't like. Well, Kate's okay when the story isn't about her.

Episode 13: Hearts and Minds

Boon and Shannon episode, hurrah. Well, one mystery cleared up. That thing Boon and Locke found was a hatch. A hatch to where? Don't know yet. Also INCEST. I mean, I know they're not related by blood and only my marriage but INCEST.

Boon wanted to tell Shannon about the hatch, so Locke knocked him out a drugged him (nice guy), which gave him crazy visions. He hallucinated his sister getting killed by the monster, and he said that when she died he felt relieved. So I guess he's done with her now. He doesn't want to tell her any more, or care that Sayid is hitting on her any more.

Kate found out that Sun speaks English too, so that's two people that know now.

Okay seriously, how many episodes of this show start with a close up on someone's eye? Is that really necessary. There must have been about 6 episodes that have done that now.

Episode 14: Special

Michael and Walt episode (finally). Well that was one interesting episode. It seems like Walt has special powers or something. He thinks of things and then they happen, sometimes. He was talking about some bird and one flew into the window (in a flashback). He was reading that comic that had a polar bear in it, and they keep appearing. Oh yeah, another polar bear in this episode. His adoptive father was talking about it, "things happen when he's around" etc. And Locke was telling Michael to let Walt fulfill his potential. This is just getting weirder.

Michael was planning to build a boat as well. Oh, and right at the end Claire turned up out of nowhere.

Episode 15: Homecoming

2nd Charlie episode. Well, Claire's back, and she doesn't remember a thing. Not even from before Ethan took her. She can't remember anything after the crash. Which is a bit of a bummer for poor old Charlie. Ethan showed up again. He threatened to kill one person every night unless Charlie brought Claire to him. The first night everyone set up a watch, but Ethan still managed to kill one of them. No worries though, it wasn't anyone important. Just Scott or Steve or whoever. Next night Jack got the guns from that case from that other episode, and a few of them went out with Claire to lure Ethan out. It worked. They wanted to take him alive but Charlie killed him.

Not much happened in this episode really. I like Charlie, but this wasn't that great.

Episode 16: Outlaws

2nd Sawyer episode. Man, when is Hurley going to get an episode? He's the only major character who hasn't had one yet. Well, at least Sawyer wasn't annoying in this one like he was in the last one. It was about him finding some boar that was causing him trouble, and the flash backs were about him trying to find the man that conned his parents. Pretty boring.

But he also heard those whispers in the jungle. They were saying something related to his back story too, so maybe it's a psychological thing? I dunno. There hasn't been much bizarre stuff to do with the island happening in the last few episodes. It's getting a bit dull. Having more Jack Kate and Sawyer episodes isn't helping either.

The bizarre stuff won't fully get in motion till season 2. The writers wanted to get the crazy shit starting in season 1, but ABC thought that would lose too many viewers (which proves true in season 2 and 3).

Episode 17: …In Translation

2nd Sun and Jin episode, although this time it mainly focused on Jin. Good episode too. The back story was essentially the same as the Sun episode, but from Jin’s point of view. Everyone found out Sun could speak English too, including Jin. Looks like the broke up at the end.

Michael’s been building a raft for the past couple of episodes, and in this one someone burned it. Everyone thought it was Jin, but it wasn’t. Turns out it was Walt. Only Locke knows though. Walt burned it because he doesn’t want to leave the island, he likes it there. Little oddball.

Also Sayid and Shannon finally got together.

Hurley better have a damn episode soon. Episode 17 ended in him, so I hope that next one is his. Also in episode 17, I noticed that he was on TV in Korea for some reason.

Episode 18: Numbers

Hurley episode. Now that's more like it! Great episode. Michael needed a light or something for his raft, and someone came up with the idea of going to that french woman again to get one. Anyway, point is, Hurley got a look at her notes, and one piece of paper she wrote down the same bunch of numbers a lot of times. Which Hurley seemed to think was pretty important, and he went to go look for her.

Turns out he had won the lottery with those same numbers, only after he won the lottery lots of bad stuff happened to him. He thought the numbers were cursed, so he wanted to find out what they mean. He got from a person at a mental institution, where I guess he used to be a patient, who kept repeating them all the time. When Hurley told the guy he used them for the lottery the guy flipped out and started yelling about where he got them from. So Hurley traced it around some more. Anyway, the from the mental home and his friend used to be in the army or something, monitoring long distance transmissions in the South Pacific. One day they picked up a transmission repeating those numbers. The guy used the numbers to win some money too, and then bad shit happened to him.

Hurley found the french woman, and she explained that her crew sailed to the island in the first place because they heard that transmission. They tracked it to a radio tower on the island, but they couldn't figure out what they meant. Later she went back and changed the transmission to the one that the main guys heard a while ago. Also, those numbers are written on the hatch! DUNDUNDUN.

Meanwhile, Locke made a cot for Claire's baby.

Episode 19: Deus Ex Machina

2nd Locke episode. And a great episode too. Certainly lived up to it's name at least. Locke and Boon are still trying to get in to the hatch, but nothing is working. Locke started losing the use of his legs too. Then Locke had a dream. He saw a plane crash on the island, and he also saw Boon covered in blood saying "Theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs". Turns out another plane did crash on the island at some point, and it was the one from his dream, and he found it because he saw where it crashed in the dream. And Boon did know someone called Theresa who fell down some stairs. Deus Ex Machina indeed.

All that was in the plane was a bunch of heroin though, so at least Charlie might be pleased. While Boon was searching through the plane though, it fell from the little cliff where it was stuck and he ended up getting pretty messed up. He did manage to get a signal on the plane's radio though, and it sounded like some normal was on the other end. At the end Locke was crying and yelling at the hatch, when a light came on inside of it. That's when it ended.

Locke's flash backs were about him finding his father and getting tricked into giving his father a kidney, after which his father just cut him off completely. What a dick.

Episode 20: Do No Harm

3rd Jack episode. Another pretty darn good one too. It was mainly about Jack trying to save Boon. He died in the end though, but now Jack is on the warpath and looking for Locke, since Boon mentioned the plane and stuff. Locke lied and said Boon fell ooff a cliff. Jack's flash backs were about him getting married, they weren't very interesting.

Also, Claire had her baby. It wasn't her episode either. Jack was bust so Kate delivered it. You know what Lost does really well? The end-of-episode musical montage. I'm a sucker for those things.

Episode 21: The Greater Good

2nd Sayid episode. This one was alright. When Boon was being buried, Locke showed up and admitted what happened. Jack went mental at him, and everyone seemed kind of pissed with him after that. Even Walt. Shannon asked Sayid to do something about it, but all he did was go to the plane with Locke and ask him about what happened to see if he was still lying. Then Shannon stole the key to the gun case so she could shoot. Almost did too, but Sayid saved him. Which means Sayid and Shannon are over. Now Sayid is insisting that Locke take him to the hatch.

It was revealed who hit Sayid on the head and destroyed his equipement that one time as well. It was Locke. Not sure why he did, but he said it was what was best for everyone.

Also, Claire's baby likes Sawyer's voice for some reason.

Episode 22: Born to Run

You know why Kate's episodes are boring? Because the whole story seems to stop for her episodes and all she does is run away and we don't even know what she's running from.

Michael's getting ready to launch his raft though. Walt seems to know about the hatch too, since he told Locke not to open "it". He didn't say hatch, but what else is he talking about? I'm just putting it down to him apparently being "special" in some way. Perhaps he has the Shining?

Episode 23: Exodus Part 1

Best episode so far. Wasn't about anyone specifically, 5 or 6 characters had flash backs. The french woman came to the beach to warn everyone that the Others were coming to get them. Now that people know about the hatch, they plan to open it and get everyone inside to hide from them. To do that they want some dynamite, so the french woman took a few of them to the black rock to get some. This black rock has been mentioned a few times, Claire dreamed about it too. Turns out it's a big old ship. The french also said that the monster thing was a security system for protecting the island.

Meanwhile Michael launched his raft. Him, Walt, Sawyer and Jin left on it. Walt gave Vincent to Shannon. That was a good scene. Almost welled up. Sawyer told Jack that about meeting Jack's dad and all the stuff he said about wishing he could apologise. Made me like Sawyer, since he wasn't a total dick something for once.

Episode 24: Exodus Part 2 (Season 1 finale)

Okay episode, not great. The french woman stole Claire's baby because she heard the Others whispering that they were coming for the boy. She thought she could trade it for her child that they stole 16 years ago. Sayid and Charlie got the baby back though. Turns out the Others weren't after the baby, they were after Walt. A boat found Michael's raft at night. They shot Sawyer, took Walt and blew up the raft.

Meanwhile Jack, Kate, Hurley and Locke were bringing the dynamite back from the Black Rock. They got chased by that monster thing, and we got some glimpses of it. Looked like a puff of black smoke. It grabbed Locke and tried to pull him into a hole, but Jack saved him. Locke told him to let go though, because he was sure he wouldn't be killed.

Anyway, they got back to the hatch and blew the door off it. Hurley saw the numbers on the hatch and told everyone to stop, but Locke lit the fuse anyway. It ended with them staring down the hatch.

And that's season 1 of Lost. It was okay. More average/boring/bad episodes that there were good episodes. As far as main characters go, Jack and Kate are dull. Still undecided about Sawyer. Everyone else is good.

AS for the mystery, already it's pretty clear that some of this stuff is supposed to just be taken at face value and probably won't ever be explained. Which is annoying. I don't expect any explanation for Walt's apparent powers other than "Well, he has special powers".

Episode 1: Man of Science, Man of Faith

4th Jack episode. This episode was mainly about them going into the hatch. It started with scenes of some guy living an apparently normal life in a house, but then there was a big boom, and it turned out he was living in the hatch on the island. Locke lowered Kate down first, because she was lighter and smaller. Something happened to her though, haven't seen her since. Then Locke went down, and then sometime after Jack went down. Jack found a weird computer room and stuff. In his flash back he met a guy called Desmond, who coincidentally is the guy that's living in the hatch. Episode ended with them pointing a gun at each other.

Also, Shannon lost Vincent and went out looking for him, when she saw Walt. He was all wet and whispering in a weird way, but she turned around and then he was gone, so maybe she was imagining it?

Episode 2: Adrfit

2nd Michael episode. This episode was partly the aftermath of the raft attack, in which not much happened, and partly showing what happened to Locke and Kate when they went down the hatch.

Michael and Sawyer just floated around on bits of raft for the night arguing. The current took them back to the island, where they found Jin running for his life from the Others. That's where the episode ended.

Locke and Kate met Desmond, who asked Locke if he was "him", whoever that is. Desmond seemed to think that the rest of the world would be gone by now, and that everyone outside the hatch should be sick. He also has to input those numbers into a computer every 108 for some reason.

Episode 3: Orientation

3rd Locke episode. Jin, Michael and Sawyer are trapped in a pit, but it turns those others aren't the Others. They were people from the tail end of the plane who survived and crashed on the other side of the island. Their lives seem to have been quite a bit rougher.

Meanwhile down the hatch someone broke the computer and Desmond ran off. They fixed the computer though. Locke made Jack push the button the first time. There's also a weird magnetic wall in the hatch. They watched an orientation video from the Dharma Initiative. The hatch was built as a lab for scientists to study the weird magnetism on that part of the island. But apparently there was some incident, and everything was concreted over and now they have to push a button every 108 minutes.

Locke's flash backs were okay, not as good as his 2nd episode. It wasn't bad though.

Episode 4: Everybody Hates Hugo

2nd Hurley episode. Fucking loved this episode. It was great. Hurley's great. He was put in charge of the food they found in the hatch, but he didn't want the job. He thought the food would change everything, because everyone would want something and not everyone would get it and he would get blamed. He nearly blew it all with some dynamite.

You know why I like Hurley? He feels like a real person. He's just about the only main character who does.

His flash backs were about him losing a friend due to winning the lottery. In the end though, because he was in charge and there was only enough food to last 1 person a few months, he decided to just give it all out in 1 night. Great scene.

Meanwhile Jin, Sawyer and Michael were taken back the where the other survivors had been living. 23 of them survived but now there's only about 6 of them. Bernard was there too. He's Rose's wife, and she is with the main group.

Some random stuff I forgot to mention:

One of the other plane survivors, Analucia, is played by Michelle Rodriguez. She was in the final episode of season 1, in Jack's flash back. She met him at the air port. Her and Bernard are the only ones I know anything about at the moment.

The guy presenting the Dharma orientation video looked really familiar. I'm sure I've seen him other stuff, but I think he may have popped up in the background or something during the series. I could just be remembering him from something else though.

Episode 5: ...And Found

3rd Sun/Jin episode. Sun lost her wedding ring, but she found it in the end.

Meanwhile the other survivors decided to go take Michael, Jin and Sawyer back to the main group's camp. Michael ran off into the jungle though, to find Walt. This episode properly introduced another of the other survivors, Mr. Echo. He went with Jin to find Michael. At one point they hid because the Others were coming, and they were lying under some branches and stuff watching them walk past. Only saw their feet, but one of them was dragging teddy bear. They found Michael and got him to come back with them.

Episode 6: Abandoned

2nd Shannon episode. She saw Walt again, so she rushed out to look for him all over the place. Sayid followed her, and at the end of the episode they both saw Walt. So... I dunno what's going on with that. The two times when Shannon saw him, he was all weird and stuff, and he vanished impossibly fast. When they both saw him though, he just walked away from them.

Meanwhile, the other group make their way to the main group. Sawyer got shot when the Others took Walt, so he wasn't doing to well. He collapsed, and they made a stretcher for him, but not before he could tell them all that if the situation was reversed he'd leave them all behind. Sawyer is a serious asshole. On the way, one of the other group went missing while no one was looking, so they were all panicking.

Meanwhile, Shannon takes off after Walt after he walks away, and Sayid goes after her. But then...! SHE GETS SHOT! Which is annoying. Maggie Grace is hot. Analucia had the gun that she stole from Sawyer, and because they were all spooked, she shot Shannon, not knowing who she was. So that's how the two groups meet each other.
