| Mr. 2 is neither a man, nor a woman. A transvestite.
And from Alabasta on, all the main villains thend to be actual threatening people.

| You mean transexual? Or asexual? Or hermaphrodite... whatever. He's called an "okama" in the fanslation.
On that note, at this point the translation has changed yet again. Luffy is back to Luffy, but some other terms have are now untranslated, or translated different. Like on that page, Mr. 2 says he's gay, but now he calls himself "okama", like I said. The 7 Gods of Pirates is now some Japanese term too.

| Okama means crossdresser or transvestite.
7 Gods of Pirates = Shichibukai. The correct translation for Schichibukai is 7 Warlords of the Sea.

| A note in the fanslation said that the literal translation was "group of 7 of the sea" or something. So instead of coming up with an english equivalent, the guy just kept the japanese. | |

No. It's the real translation. >_> - Quote :

A translator from APforums called the Norwegian translation the worst one out there. Worse than Viz.

| Just got done with the bit where Ace shows up. - Spoiler:
That was the first bit that felt a Dragonball-ey, what with Luffy's brother just showing up out of the blue 17 volumes in and not ever being mentioned before. It was like Raditz showing up.

| Just got started on volume 20. It's properly picking up speed now. They sure do spend a long damn time in Alabasta before anything really happens. | |

| Alabasta pick up after they escape from Rain Dinners.
And Oda's pacing is pretty awful. Although more Crocodile is never a bad thing.

| I imagine it'd drag terribly if the characters weren't as good as they. Also... - Spoiler:
Does Usopp have a devil fruit power or something? Nami yells at him for not swimming, which seemed like damn obvious foreshadowing. If he does, don't spoil it or anything though.

| I'd like to know how... - Spoiler:
Usopp survived taking a 4 ton bat to the head, especially as we see it fracture his skull.

He doesn't. He swims in the Enies Lobby arc. - SimianWonder wrote:

| Usopp is, and will always be, the weakest member of the crew. | |

| But it would have been cool to give some interesting power that he didn't know about for some reason. He could discover it and save the day or something. It'd be totally unexpected and really obvious at the same time. | |

i take him as an insight in what it would be for a 'normal' person being on the crew and i like it that way though i still think he's a douche
