| No, it was a manga cover story. Anime never touched it. | |

| It only around ten pages or so, so if you can find the relevant chapters then it's worth it, yes. | |

| I read it earlier. I like the idea of a story being told through cover pages. Kind of an interesting concept. | |

| A lot of characters have adventures told by cover stories, and they're great for fleshing out the OP world. ie, Coby and Helmeppo getting into scrpaes with Morgan and Garp, Hatchan introducing us to Camie and Papugg years before they were introduced in the main story, and the misadventures of several villains, showing what they did after getting a pasting, including Wapol, CP9, Gedatsu (from Skypiea) and the aforementioned Enel serial.
I've probably missed a few - in fact, I'm certain I have - but if you like the OPverse and want to see more of it beyond what is happening to the Straw Hats then they're great.

I saw some Vivi stuff in the chapters I'm currently on just past the sub where Luffy is fighting Hordy with the Noah falling. Nothing much to be had there though. I can't believe I'm almost caught up. I've been watching/reading One Piece on and off since the world premier of the 4kids dub *Shudder*. That was about...*looks it up* 8 years ago.

| The recent episode was pretty good, because it gave us less Hody and more Straw Hats. It was especially good for Brook. | |

| Yeah, I enjoyed it, must better paced than last weeks effort. A few people seemingly weren't happy with how Red Hawk was done, but I quite liked the transition from Luffy into Ace and back again, though the filler Bazooka before hand seemed rather unnecesary. Oh well, Hody's going down next week... unless they really decide to drag that scene out.
Brook had some really good scenes with Zeo, and Monster Chopper looked boss. Can't wait to see the Fishman officers get one-shotted like the fodder they are.

| Jesus, they really milked the Luffy v Hody stuff. 90% of their fighting was filler, doubly annoying because of how lazy some of the finishing moves against the officers looked. Impact Wolf looked lame as hell, and Zoro's Onigiri was basically just a still image.
I get that they needed to make Hody more threatening than the joke he was in the manga, but having him be faster than Luffy using Gear Second is a bit silly.

| I'd guessed that that never happened, otherwise he'd have been able to dodge Luffy's elephant gun too.
Also impact wolf was a bit silly, it didn't look like it really did anything to him too. I looked up the manga page afterwards in which it looked more damaging, but still it wasn't really less strange.
Also what is up with Sanji being able to set himself completely on fire now? Is that a developed Diable Jambe or something different?

In the manga, after getting hit onto the ship with Red Hawk, Hody chomps some more pills then Luffy lands. No pissing about, Luffy uses Elephant gun straight away while Hody chuck the shark darts. In the manga the Elephant Gun blows straight through them, there's no resistance at all, it's not a DBZ beam struggle like the anime made it look. Hody's down immediately after the Elephant Gun, when Luffy then uses Elephant Gattling to try and break Noah apart before it crashes. The anime made it look like he needed Elephant gattling to beat Hody, which isn't the case. Again, in the manga, Hody can take a hit, but that's about it. He's not even close to being able to fight with Luffy on relatively even terms. The anime gave him a huge boost. - Quote :

The anime looked like a gentle nudge with the tip of it's nose, the manga at least looked like it had some... well, impact. - Quote :

I've no idea, it's the same in the manga. I'm not sure whether it's a visual metaphor for the "hell" he endured during the time skip.

| At least it's over. This arc reminded me of Thriller Bark, in that it was slower than usual in pace and wasn't that great until the Straw Hats showed up to play for the final fights. And they're the weakest two canon arcs IMO.
I knew, as soon as Zoro owned Hody earlier in the arc, that he wouldn't be a major challenge in comparison to the caliber of villains we saw before.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but it was crushingly disappointing. The manga chapter depicting these events is pretty awesome, yet here we have at least ten minutes of pure bullshit filler then the finishing moves, Brook's aside, were quickly brushed over so we could get back to more bullshit Luffy v Hody filler. It's just a really piss-poor handling of one of the defining moments of an otherwise mediocre arc. - Zero wrote:

Thriller Bark was slow initially, but the final third was tremendous. The fight v Oars, then Moria, then Kuma was all much, much more exciting than anything in Fishman Island. - Quote :

Yes, and that was quite deliberate I'd say, hence why I got so annoyed by the anime showing Hody landing hits on Zoro there. He's meant to be a punching bag, that's the whole point of the arc, to show us how far the Straw Hats have come - even pre transformation, Hody is "way stronger than Arlong", yet Zoro one-shots him underwater, an environment where fishmen get massive boosts to strength and speed - yet anime Hody is able to move fast enough to dodge Luffy's gear second Jet Pistol's, and put enough force into his Shark Darts that he can almost push back the Elephant Gun. He's shown to be roughly comparable to Luffy's level, which is completely missing the point.

The pacing was pretty slow in the manga too. it really is one of the weakest arcs to boot. Never fear, though. The next one is much more enjoyable. Nothing special, but still pretty fun.

I'd say it feel much more like the OP of old, before Sabaody (the first time) and the events there dramatically changed the narrative. For that alone, it feels pretty special.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. We'll see. I hope to see it not as just some new arc that fluked and managed to "capture the feel of old OP", but as a "return to form" and that the quality will remain consistent. A shining ray of hope, if you will.

I knew, as soon as Zoro owned Hody earlier in the arc, that he wouldn't be a major challenge in comparison to the caliber of villains we saw before. The latter part of Thriller Bark was great, besides, it gave us Brook. Who, coincidentally, was the stand out character in this arc because of the last two episodes. His fight was actually well done, my personal highlight of the arc.

| Brook was the only character whose finishing move was done justice. Chopper's was alright too, though largely because it wasn't anything special - just a single blow from his strongest form, whereas everyone was showing us new techniques. | |

They made an annoying pushover look like someone as difficult to fight as Lucci. If this happened in DBZ it would live on in infamy forever. Tanking Red Hawk, I mean come ooooon.

| Yes, hence two references to "pure bullshit filler" in my post. Again, I can kind of see why they thought Hody needed to be more threatening, but they took it way too far in this episode. Thats especially annoying because what canon material there was turned out really poorly as well. Zoro and Sanji had barely two animation frames in their attacks. Garbage. | |
