| So dissappointed that we won't get a new series. That would've brought along a new score and a new animation team, but of course Toei is too cheap for that. | |

| Wait twenty years and enjoy One Piece Kai.
That's One Piece Kai, rather than One Piece, Kai.

That's One Piece Kai, rather than One Piece, Kai. After the flop that was Dragon Ball Kai? Don't think so.

| Was anyone else disappointed by "We Go"?
Anyway, quite nice episode though again there was still a decent amount of content missed out - I guess we're back to 2:1 in terms of manga : anime. They also censored one of my favourite scenes; Sanji flipping the bird to the okama that come to see him off.
Skip, am I right in saying you're only watching the anime, you've not read the manga? If so, I'll keep quiet about future events.

| The episode covered 18 pages, which is the size of a regular chapter. It's just that this particular chapter extra long (23 pages). | |

Yeah, just the anime for me. I tried reading the manga but I lost patience with the fan translations.

They could have made it a double episode, couldn't they? Some of the scenes were odd as well; they cut out Sanji flipping the bird, but they left in Usopp getting stuffed into Nami's bosom, even adding a scene where his long nose is placed suggestively in between her breasts as they bounce up and down. They also added Nami / Usopp paying for their drinks in the bar rather than just leaving; odd given that A) they're pirates, and B) Nami blows the place up with lightning a few seconds later.

Bird flipping has always been censored in Japan, nothing new there. Law was censored the same way during Sabaody. The other thing is just Toei being awful as usual.

Yes, aside from the occasional nakama and inconsistent naming conventions (Enel/Eneru).

Yes, aside from the occasional nakama and inconsistent naming conventions (Enel/Eneru). Sounds good, I'll give it another shot in a month when I have more free time.

Yes. Later chapters are much more consistent; even if they don't always use the exact same translation as the anime, at least the names don't change every other chapter.

| They dragged out a few of the scenes there, but still quite fun. Once again, they cut out the foaming at the mouth for those affected by haki, but that was expected, and I enjoyed the filler scene with fake Zoro, Sanji and Robin strolling through a brawl because everyone was afraid of them. Makes Bellamy's words in Jaya ring true. | |

| The last half of that episode was great, Luffy is such a badass. | |

| That's the episode I've been waiting for. Seeing Fake Luffy get his, then watching Luffy, Zoro and Sanji all effectively one shotting an opponent that it took the whole crew to beat previously... got to say it was pretty well done, though I though the impact from Sentoumaru's axe on fake Luffy's head seemed toned down a little. The manga makes it look like he's been squashed into the ground. | |

| Just watched the second half of the episode again, and noticed a few changes from the manga, things I'm not entirely happy with.
* Luffy activates Gear Second with his left arm, like in the manga. However, Luffy then jumps into the air, where his whole body is now shiny and steaming indicating he's activated G2 as per Pre timeskip, and then OHKOs the Pacifista with his right arm.
-- In the manga, he activates G2 as above, but is clearly shown to keep Gear Second localised entriely to his left arm (don't ask how, I've no idea) using a left handed blow to flatten the Pacifista.
* When Sanji and Zoro are attacked by PX7, Sanji is shown spinning to activate Diablo Jambe.
-- In the manga he doesn't seem to need the spinning mechanic any more, he just jumps up to attack and his leg is instantly on fire.
* The Pacifista seem to fly in this episode. PX5 flies at Luffy, and is then shown to be standing on the ground when Luffy moves above it just prior to flattening it, and PX7 flies at Zoro and Sanji, even doing a little roll in the air for good measure. Again, when it gets hit it's suddenly on the ground again.
-- Pacifista can't fly. I can appreciate a bit of artistic license, and this didn't bother me anything like as much as their misinterpretation of Luffy's new G2 or Sanji's DJ.
Am I over analysing? Perhaps. Still, it just smacks of disregard for the source material, which is what annoys me the most.

| I figured Luffy would have had an actual reason for using his arm to activate G2, aside from just looking like a badass, so that makes sense that he found a way to localise it. | |

| On the bottom row centre panel, you can see Luffy activating Gear Second... note the steam very deliberately only around his arm. - Spoiler:
And here, when he strikes the blow, the steam is still around only his leftarm, the one used to strike the blow. - Spoiler:
Why Toei changed it, goodness only knows. My guess is they just hadn't paid that much attention to the scene and didn't understand what Oda was trying to show us... but that seems unlikely, right? Surely if a guy on the internet can spot this sort of thing, then someone on Toei's staff or Oda's editor, maybe even Oda himself, could have said, "actually, it's meant to be like this..."
