The flashback is being adapted better than the war was.

Did the anime not do a good job of the war arc? I can imagine Toei milking a lot of the moments where the really powerful guys get to demo their powers; one or two panels in the manga suddenly become two or three minutes of "look what I can do BWAWAWAWHAHAHAH!"

It's more like after every little thing that happens, there's 3 minutes of shockface. Also, there's Buggy and Hancock filler in every episode.

The Buggy / Hancock filler would be bearable if it weren't so idiotic. Hancock's filler seems to be undecided whether she's a heart-of-ice bitch, or a lovestruck-teen, and Buggy's is just... yeah.

There's also episodes that miss the point of the manga chapter entirely, like Luffy vs. Mihawk, where the latter is just firing lasers all over the place hitting everyone in his way, when in the manga he fired a single slash that dodged everything, except Luffy, who was hopping around in Gear 2nd (in the anime he's running around in Gear 2nd, which doesn't make sense either).

By "firing lasers", do you mean the beam slashes, like the one he aims at Whitebeard in the very beginning?

Episode 504 will be the last flashback episode.

Also I must've missed your post Simian, and even though you probably have seen that episode by now, I'll say that's exactly what I meant with firing lasers.

I've really eased off recently to stop myself catching up, so Luffy hasn't even arrived at Marineford yet.

Flashback is over! Only took 12 episodes.

That seemed like a whole lot longer than 12 episodes.

We did finally get the scene of Luffy punching out the sea king that was in chapter 1 and Toei for some reason omitted. Probably because it was awesome like Eneru's moon adventures and the reforming of Baroque Works.

Next week will have some amazing material. Hope they don't fuck that up too.

I finished the War arc a few days ago, so maybe I'll quickly power through the flashback to make sure I'm all up to date. I also watched a couple of the movies.

Movie 6 had a fantastic art style but the plot was just weird, even for OP, and the retelling of the Drum Arc was utterly pointless; Robin and Frankie did sweet FA, and even Wapol's brother seemed to be there only to ensure the end didn't play out exactly the same.

I just hope they didn't take their time with that flashback only to fuck up what was getting everyone through it.

Watch them drag the next few episodes out at a ratio of 2 episodes per chapter or something silly like that. They'll drip feed us the next few episodes because they know we've been waiting months for this moment.

Shanks got really heavy into roids as the show progressed.

Just watched episode 508, and it was painful. Perhaps five minutes was canon, the rest is bullshit filler again.

I was more bothered that they didn't use Franky's theme during the explosion and the thumbs up.

Also, in the manga there were two rounds of Strawhat whereabouts, plus scenes with other relevant people throughout the world. It could take up to ten episodes until they reach the timeskip. And after that they'll still go by 1 chapter = 1 episode pacing.

Ah, Toei. Wish you just did 80 episode nonsense filler like Naruto and after that actually put some pace back into the series.

Pacing isn't the anime's strong point, is it? They almost completely ruined Thriller Bark and they're going to do the same here.

Seems to me like there will indeed be constant teasing, that's literally all this episode seemed to be.
