ive been getting both safes (i think), are you saying the game isnt a game at all then, rather a text based film with a couple of levels?

It's a visual novel with puzzle rooms, yeah.

| You might end up enjoying it more towards the end when it starts to tie everything together, it can be a little disjointed when you're going through the initial few endings. Despite what Buu said you don't need to know anything about 999 to understand the game itself, although a couple of aspects of the true ending and how they fit into the overall story of the trilogy won't make sense. | |

| I've never been a fan of the wait 10-20 hours and you might like the payoff view some people have. Read the 999 synopsis I made. Â It will go through the way I went through the game and give you a clue how the games play out shouldn't take longer then 10 minutes to read.
If it intriges you play Zero escape if it doesn't just wait till you're more in the mood. You got games you want to play no need to force yourself into playing other stuff.

| Honestly its kinda sad to hear this is a game you forced yourself to play through I genuinely think you could've enjoyed it, you should've just held off till you felt you could concentrate on the story. As visual novels you can only really enjoy the first playthrough. | |

| 999 was a flawed game, but with a sledgehammer of an ending that will likely leave a very lasting impression. VLR is next on my to-do list, and I'll update with my progress and thoughts as I play.

| Okay, so just to start things off, a few initial thoughts; * It looks lots better than 999. 3D character models, much higher resolution 3D environments rather than Old-school Resi-Evil style renders. * It's voiced! Okay, so it's in Japanese, but that's fine. * The flow chart. Holy crap, how many endings does the game have?! (Rhetorical question, don't answer that!) - Spoiler:
Ok, in an elevator. With a girl. She knows my name, though she can't explain how. I could hazard a fair guess, but I won't. Oh, and we've both got [3] bracelets on, though they do say "pair" on them. Interesting.
Oh, and there's Zero. Only he's a rabbit. Right, let's get out of this lift, shall we?

| I honestly couldn't tell you how many endings there are anyway, one cool thing though is that you can jump to any point in the flowchart and resume from there so the frustrating repetition that was the beginning of 999 is gone completely. | |

| Two password types? I like the sound of that. Got the first "hidden file" to boot. Onwards! | |

| - Spoiler:
One of the people in the game is dark skinned, dark haired and could be vaguely Egyptian looking. Â She's called Alice. Â The Alice?
Wouldn't that be something.

Clover again? Poor girl doesn't have much luck, does she? The "masked man" she's with, seems immediately suspect too. His left arm is in a sling (or missing entirely), and he speaks very well... almost like Snake.

| Oh crap, I hope there aren't going to be too many colour puzzles.  Being  red/green colour blind might make those tricky... | |

| - Spoiler:
Took the Magenta door first, leading into the lounge, that seemed to be the way the game was leading as the default option, so that's what I'll go with first time around. Â I'll say this much - the puzzles are harder than 999's. Â I got the globe pieces easily enough, but the puzzle with the cocktails took a bit of working out and the extra required to get the hidden file took me a fair bit longer again. Â All in, I'd reckon that room took at least forty five minutes, likely slightly longer.
Didn't learn much about Luna or Phi though.

| The betray/ally mechanic is a nice touch. Â Not sure why you'd choose betray though, I'm not an utter bastard. Â Unlike half of the players, at least. Â - Spoiler:
Anyway, opened the first Ab door and - whaddya know - there's the recently murdered body of an old lady. Â No one knows who she is, or how she got there. Â Well, I say that, Tenmyouji seemed to suddenly be very sullen, so he clearly recognised her even if the game didn't explicity say so. Â Either that, or he killed her, but I find that unlikely - so far, he's seemed a pretty sound guy, even voting ally and not getting pissy when Quark and Dio betrayed him in the AB room. It'd be interesting to see if the body still appears if I take an alternative route through the game. Â Dependant on who you take into the rooms, you may just save the old lady's life. Â That would help narrow down her killer.
Also, I was struggling a little to reconcile the time difference between events of 999 and VLR; Clover looks a few years older, but the actual time elapsed up to Sigma's kidnapping is only 13 months, and Alice and Clover know each other so this is definitely the same Alice glimpsed so briefly at the end of 999. That said, Alice and Dio both confirm they were taken prior to this date, and none of them have any idea how long they were asleep for, so it could be days, weeks or months. Years though? Unlikely. Given the mind fuck at the end of 999 I'll rule out nothing entirely though.
Zero's rabbit puns are wearing a little thin as well. Â They're just not that bunny. Â I mean, funny.

| - Spoiler:
Alice is dead, murdered, with the blade still sticking out her chest. Cue a lot of running around, Tenmyouji confirming that neither Phi or I are the killers, Clover alluding that she knew who the killer was and that Alice had also noticed. After a little while longer, Phi also notices something... one of the AB rooms has actually moved. The room Luna was originally in has moved, and there's a bloodstained handkerchief in Alice's hand that Phi surmises was in between the two AB rooms. Everything points to Luna being Alice's killer. Except Luna never left Sigma or Phi, they were with her the entire time. If Clover noticed the AB room had moved as well, she may have reached the same conclusion, only she wouldn't know Luna's alibi.
On cue, K comes barging in. Luna is dead, but she's been injected with poison. Everything is kicking off, Clover, Quark and Tenmyouji are nowhere to be found and there are seconds left before the chromatic doors close...

| These posts have made me want to replay the first two games but I just know that I'd instantly remember all the plot points right before they happened and ruin everything for myself. | |

| Bah, foiled. My first "ending"... - Spoiler:
Sigma and Phi refused to go through the doors without Tenmyouji, Clover and Quark. Dio swore at us a lot, and K proceeded to literally sucker-punch us and throw us through the doors. We found our way into the security room, and solved a few relatively easy puzzles (seriously, it was the easiest room so far by a fair distance) before Phi managed to access some security camera footage of Luna's death. Or at least, vaguely of Luna's death, showing Clover giving her a really hard time before they both vanish off-camera and Clover leaves. Dio then shows up for arounfdninety seconds - despite his earlier assertion that he'd never left the warehouse - and then K arrives, spending twenty minutes or so off-screen, allegedly trying to revive Luna. Sigma has a bit of a freak out, almost like he'd been drugged, and passes out for a moment, before he and Phi go to find the others.
Tenmyouji and Clover are both dead, chained to a sink whereby they couldn't reach the chromatic doors in time and were lethally injected by their bracelets. Quark's bracelet is also on the floor nearby, though Quark is nowhere to be found. Further checking finds K and Dio... yep, both dead. Dio skewered to a wall, and K mere feet from him, an axe embedded in his helmet. Thing is, Quark is too small to have done this, and everyone else is dead...
That's not all though!
There's an announcement that the AB doors are being opened, and the only other person left alive is Quark. Phi and Sigma rush to the warehouse, but there's no sign of anyone. Heading on to door further searching, they stumble across the Director's Office, complete with office computer awaiting a login. Sigma thinks he may know what it is, but you get one attempt, and upon my failure, the game ominously displays To Be Continued...
I think I fucked up somewhere.
Great game though. The presentation is outstanding, and I've genuinely got no idea who the killer or, who Zero is, or what their purpose was.

| You didn't fuck up anywhere. My first ending was a to be continued thing too, and eventually it will be continued. It makes sense in the end. I also remember the password being a special thing that wasn't very clear even after finding everything, but I may be wrong about that. | |
