Spoiler:
So, it's been revealed that the game ends with Big Boss trapped in a spooky house, being subjected to moving images of a fox getting crushed by a pachinko machine plastered over every single wall. He tries to make his way out by going through a series of hallways that look extremely similar to one another, but escape is always beyond his reach. Upon realizing that he's been caught in a loop, he suffers a mental breakdown and the scene cuts to black. An image of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro mooning together with the words "KUCK FONAMI" painted across their ass cheeks blinks on-screen for a split second before the credits roll.

Apart from the button prompt for the helicopter's mini gun not popping up and causing me to redo that whole last section again, that Sahelanthropus encounter during the Huey extraction episode was pretty bitchin'.

l've finished the story. I'll write up a longer post later but my quick summary is: "Gameplay is amazing, story has its highs but is inconclusive and the ending of the story left me feeling sour both for what happpens and (more importantly) what doesn't happen (i.e. things that are left unresolved or unanswered, even things I thought coming into this game would be there). Ultimately, disappointed."
Basically, the entire final act of the game was cut (you can see some of it on youtube because they released a video with the collector's edition).
It's sad to say, but I think the trailers were better than the actual story in the game. They're all so amazing and you see basically all of the important cutscenes in the game anyway.
ALSO, IMPORTANT ADVICE: Customize your emblem and include the butterfly rank insignia in it. Doing so prevents a mission sequence from initiating that permanently removes access to something really valuable Specifically
Spoiler:
You permanently lose Quiet as a buddy, with no way to get her back
Complete as much of the game as you can, S-Ranking missions and such, before removing the butterfly.

Throwing a child prisoner at a shielded enemy to incapacitate them is amusing.

Spoiler:
Y'know, even if one were to accept that this title wound up ultimately being less about Big B's descent into douchebaggery and more about some grand congratulatory statement that you, the player, played an integral part in creating this whole legend of his, it's still a bit of an underwhelming direction to take. Not just because it was capping off a somewhat clumsy and disjointed epilogue disguised as a "chapter," but also because the last parts of the story revolved around Venom B running into a handful of severe lows instead of experiencing anything really triumphant.
These losses and emotional blows would be a lot more effective if you actually were THE Big Boss, but with the revelation, it all amounts to a very hollow last batch of events that don't really help to solidify the fact that you are a worthy double. They really should have spent some extra time finishing and adding that cut mission to bring some finality to everything and make Venom come off as more of a winner. From a narrative standpoint, we need to be reaffirmed that he is worthy enough to act in BB's stead by giving him one final conquest in the story. Without it, we just have a series of screw overs leading up to an unearned sharing of the torch.
