| Playing on hard, right from the start even in the tutorial people are blocking like bitches its good to see the difficulty could be ramped up quite a bit here.
speaking to the random locals i discover that gelato is best eaten after going out for a drink and on levelling up i decide to get the power up from drinking alcohol. Alcohol makes you get more random encounters in genral so i spend almost my whole time playing yakuza drunk always so this is an awesome sskill to unlock early for me.
The leveling system has been changed using a points system so you can unlock abilities in any order you like by the looks of things assuming you got all the base skills.

| Playing first on hard isn't a good idea, if you are going after the trophies, not because it's actually hard, but because there is a trophy for specifically clearing the game on Normal and it'd be pretty boring to do so after having already cleared it on higher difficulties. Personally I thought Y4 was much easier than 3, although I could have just been more experienced. | |

| Yeah i kinda take back my original statement, most of the fights i've been in no ones been blocking. I'll probably play through on normal another time when i'm trying to pick up all the minigames and shit, i really can't be assed with that crap I really hate doing them especially expert on stuff like nineball. I'd probably get bored if i put it on normal seeing as even ex hard on yakuza 3 wasn't that difficult (except those stupid chases).
Also akiyama is just generally as cool as fuck its pretty damn awesome.
anyone know how much 100 million yen is? I'm guessing its a lot seeing as its the amount stolen from the yakuza in Y1 from what i remember or is that billion.

| I miss kazuma, akiysma just doesn't lay the smackkdown as well as kazuma (this game is easier and its easy to kick ass, but he just doesn't do the brutal moves). I also can't get this guard rail move pulled off where does the guy have to be should i grab him or not, i've unlocked most of his other moves. | |

IIRC you need an enemy standing close to a guard rail of a certain height. Try those in Theater Square and Senryo Avenue.

| Ah thanks I was trying things i thought were similar height but i was grabbing them.
There was the most awkward kissing scene i've seen in anything in a while, seriously though lily should be throwing herself at akiyama she's fugly.

Akiyama has fuck all heat action compared to kazuma i hope the other two guys have cooler ones. The triple kick one is awesome though.

| Akiyama is the one who plays most similarly to Kazuma. He can cancel his combo at any time and has a counter move like Kiryu's Tiger Drop. He is pretty flashy too. Saejima is the most boring imo. He's very slow and his attacks have super-armour, so you'll be using the same combo 99% of the time. Tanimura is the most original. He's slow and has low health, but his basic combos end with Heat actions for higher damage, he's got an overpowered parry stance, stronger throws and many useful heat actions in general. | |

Tanimura from the brief bit i played with him in the demo seems the most interesting to me, although i just really can't wait to play as kazuma again. The enemies are probably what are making me find akiyama boring, i mean once you get the slash kick + triple kick finisher you can kill most enemies with that attack alone even if they block parts of it. Also he seems most effective without a weapon hence i don't even see the point in using them. I dunno how far i am in terms of his story but i beat that guy wit a chainsaw an the whole games been laughably easy up to this point (admittedly i have played every single yakuza so i guess this shouldn't be suprising). The hardest thing being the bullet dodging training. Either way i really hope extra hard has tougher enemies or at least they will get tougher in the later chapters.

| How do i unlock the magazine move, anyway the hostess thing is boring s fuck. I''m trying to make ugly lily likeable but its impossible because i can't be assed to think about it.
She's not 1 of the 3 hostesses i need to get to number 1 to unlock something is she?

| I preferred two's management bit in that case i'm glad this shit was cut from 3. Oh man kyoko is ugly as sin, i think i'm just gonna skip to get to the next character now instead this and pachinko put me off sidequesting.
So now i got to saeijima's but and man he's way more fun then akiyama, the enemies are agressive right off th ebat and you have to tank everything its pretty amusing i'm guessing this will get old but at least i can wreck shit. Plus i don't think throwing people into walls and each other will ever get old.
I'm only on the prison bit if your wondering
Also he had a seriously badass intro.

| The problem with Saejima is that only his first two chapters are fun. Also, I may not have liked his part of the game, but he's admittedly the only character who fights any interesting bosses. | |

| Are the substories any good in this, i've only found like 4 and they weren't particularly interesting.
I think cause they divided everything up between 4 people it means there's a lot less that you'll just happen to bump into now. Also kamurocho feels a lot bigger now the rooftops and shit are all opened up.
Did you actually 100% this game some of the games look like they'll be a right pain.

If you have trouble finding them talk to the journalist in Shellac. He tells you if there are any substories available at that point and where you can start them. Overall, Y4 substories are better, but "Murder at Cafe Alps" from 3 is still my favourite. - Quote :

Well, I found the hardest of Y3's minigames to be much easier this time (billiards, golf and batting cages). I think the massage and mahjong are now the hardest. And the massage one is unbelievably disturbing. Table tennis and fishing take some patience, but at least playing tennis with the hostesses was fun in a perverted way. For shogi, I used a super easy strategy I found on GFAQSi. Training and flirting all the hostesses is probably the toughest and most boring challenge. I used the Japanese wiki to clear them (I used it for the fishing minigame too). Some of the dialogues are kinda awkward though (like, "Should I make my boobs my bigger?" or something and you're supposed to stare at them in first-person mode; I also laughed when a girl praised Tanimura's build -and the guy is skinny as hell!- and he replies "You should see me naked"). Oh and you should totally take a hostess out to that spa for some perverted thoughts.

| http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/974869-yakuza-4/cheatsYou can find what item each challenge unlocks there. Sacred Tree items automatically block bullets. It's useful for some chapters or Tanimura whose parry works on every kind of attack except for them. War God accessories give infinite heat actions. Substitute stone heals you if you die. Rage items make your heat actions stronger. There a couple powerful weapons and the amazing Golden Gun. There are two dvds for weapon forging. There are a couple more accessories whose I don't remember exactly. And you can get Amon's sunglasses for a ridiculous damage bonus. | |

| Oops, I forgot about the Colisseum. Saejima unlocks it after his 3rd chapter. Only he and Kazuma can compete. | |
