It's still by no means bad. But really Buu if you get SCV you'll have people to play it with.

Namco fighters always have dodgy servers for the first few weeks, if i wanted to join in on the fun i'd wait till after that. You guys would need the head start.

IMO SCV is the perfect 3D fighting game for casual gamers like me. The gameplay is great and it has depth, but it's not as hard and complex as Tekken and VF, so it doesn't take forever to get decent.

The AI in that mode is just ridiculous. It reads inputs and uses the most damaging combo. I also made a huge mistake as I completely underestimated the difficulty of that mode and picked a character that I didn't know how to use. It was a nightmare.
Dude your insanely modest you ranked in the top 10 steve's in the world thats insane. You really can't call yourself a casual.

If you know about attack frames you aren't a casual any more.

I won't actually have it for like 2 weeks, so hopefully they'll sort all that server shit out before it arrives. I would like to see you back up them fightin' words though.

If you are an actual casual and not one of these guys like moose/baal/chou who know about frame advantages and shit i'll school you know problem. I was taught the art of mash-fu to a very high level. Seriously though i normally can work out the basics on any fighting game in seconds of picking up the controller and pull off most the special moves without knowing a thing about the game (bar chain grabs as they require actual memorisation), only game i can't do it on is Virtua fighter which is why i call it the hardest fighting game to play.

Honestly all fighting games fall under two or three different types and they all are painfully similar.

I don't really see any difference between it and 5.

How about 5 actually being fun to play, for one? I mean, I'm awful at this fucking game. 2D games I do decently in, but 3D is out of my element. I would still rank SCII as one of the best fighting games ever made but V is definitely really good and more than makes up for how awful 3 and 4 are. I don't care about modes so much unless those modes happen to actually be something different and not just "FIGHT THROUGH GAUNTLET OF GUYS FOR CUSTOMIZABLE PARTS AND OTHER DUMB STUFF".

No they were not, aside from the character creations both games were incredibly unfun games.

SCIII: Fuck Night Terror.

SCIV: Huge input lag, and the netcode being what it was, made so many lows and unsteppable tracking moves completely ridiculous. Critical Finishes were awful in every conceivable way. Every guest character was either out of place or just terribly uninspired. CUstomization involved stats now, not a lot of freedom with that. Algol is a piss poor boss character.

Both: In addition to having wild imbalances SC3 and SC4 had pretty terrible glitching and other issues that broke the game. The games started becoming more about tits and ass and less about the actual fighting.

I thought 3 was decent, 4 was only really good to play with friends though.

From all the reviews I've read the servers are actually supposed to be pretty good, unless everything has fucked up now that more than 50 people have the game.

I'm probably being too harsh on 3 because that's sort of when the series declined. There's nothing really glaringly wrong with 3 like there is with 4, just balancing issues (And Night Terror). 4 is basically when these games finally went off the slippery slope that 3 was sort of edging to.

But yes, 5 is good and from some videos I've seen the netcode seems to be good for once, maybe when I'm done doing some create-a-character I'll jump on and see it.

I only noticed the input lag in 4 when playing online, and that was only rarely seeing as I really only played with other people in Australia and didn't have any issues with them. I never did bother with customisation stats, I always played standard rules so it was purely aesthetic. So that's really not a gripe you can have with it since you can easily pretend it doesn't exist. Yeah the Star Wars characters were completely out of place story wise, but they were pretty fun to play as so that's all that really matters. I'll give you Algol sucking and critical finishers being lame, but those two alone don't make it awful.

What on earth do you mean by Night Terror? Edit: Nevermind, I googled it and I remember now. Yeah fairo. But apart from that it was great.

The thousands of other people who says it's one of the worst netcodes in fighting games seem to think otherwise.

Not when it's a largely billed part of these games starting with 3.

No they were not, Yoda was boring and Darth Vader was slow as all hell and could barely do anything that could be remotely considered fun. The Apprentice was the only one that seemed remotely fun.[quote]

Well good on them, I'm sure if I were to play with someone who isn't living relatively close to me I'd have some more to say about it.

That doesn't change that it's only an option. It's there for people who like it while the people who don't can choose to ignore its existence if they so choose, that's how features like that should be implemented if they're included.

Darth Vader was slow but powerful, as he should be. He didn't have many combos with lots of hits, he had a few short but strong attacks. He played like a powerful badass like he appeared to be in the movies. I didn't play as Yoda but he looked pretty crazy from the way Neo used him. Not particularly useful but it would have been fun.

Seems to me that most of the negative things you have to say are just needless bitching.

Yes, input lag, awful netcode, boring and uninspired guest characters, useless extra features and a customization mode that the games pride themselves on at this point that they couldn't even deliver on like they promised is needless bitching. THat's not even to mention how broken the damned game is. If you want to settle for the bare minimum then that's fine, but don't assume it's needless bitching because you can deal with awful crap.

Sure, that isn't needless bitching, however it isn't a major flaw unless the only thing you look for in a fighting game is playing online, internationally even.

Not only subjective, but also irrelevant. If you don't like the extra features, you don't have to acknowledge them. That's all they are, extras.

Quote :

What about it did that not deliver? It seemed pretty indepth from what I can remember. I didn't buy into nor care about the stats, but I was content with the level of customisation it gave me.

Quote :

This seems pretty redundant, if you have any more points on why it sucks you'd have used them rather than endless subjectivity.

America has third world country standard internet connections, I play loads of crap with Neo and Skip and we don't lag and we're on the opposite side of the world, I play with americans and people bitch about lag. Either that or they're just butthurt.

I noticed that some of the opponents you encounter in Quick battle are named after actual fighting game pro players. I beat "Diego Umehuarez" earlier. Then I got raped by Kayane.

I also played a few online matches and I even managed to land some of alpha Patroklos' just frame moves. The general consensus is that SCV has the best netcode.
