My copy of Tekken 6 arrived today

Hey, ever noticed the lame meme/quotes people keep saying aren't really memorable. Everytime someone says "EXCELLENT" or "DORYA", it sounds like they're insinuating they're big hilarious outburts when most of these lines are whispered and such.

Starting playing again, got to Brawler again. The online seems as good as it was before the co-op patch.

And now I'm on a major shit streak. I've lost about 6 matches in a row.

I'm up to Marauder for the first time.

Up to Berserker now. No idea why I'm suddenly ranking up.

Fuck fuck fuck. Rogue. Down 3 fucking ranks. I should have just stopped playing. I managed to save myself from demotion to Marauder about 4 times, but I kept going.

Well, started playing Leo a couple days ago. Leo's not too bad, although I'm still not quite used to Leo. I just beat some Law with Leo though and got this message:

Well shit. I was doing okay for a while there with Leo, until I just ran out of steam and Chou won like 10 in a row. That happens with Leo for some reason. Leo feels so simple and straight forward that sometimes you just run out of ideas and start trying weird shit, when what you were doing already was working fine. I seemed to do better with Lars.

At first, I'd no idea of what you were doing and I'd a hard time hitting you with your good BDCing skills. I couldn't block right or get any counterhits too, so I'd to start playing more carefully and use completely different moves, as you knew all of the moves I'd been using, to win. I may not be an amazing player, but I've great knowledge of Steve (best moves from each stance, frame data, setups, mixups, etc) and he has A LOT of options. His complexity saved me.

BTW, his WS move and that sidestepping launcher move are punishable (-13 and -12 respectively). You never hit me after blocking those.

That sidestep launcher always reached further that I thought it would, even after getting hit by it for 50th time.

I shouldn't use it from that far anyway. The point of this move is to get a CH with the shoulder to connect the uppercut. If the shoulder attack isn't a CH, the uppercut can be blocked and Steve gets punished.

Well, it was working, so I can't blame you for it.

I'm looking for a simple character to learn. Any recommendations?

Clean hits are Paul's bread and butter, and they are fucking annoying. Law you probably know about. The others are all pretty damn simple, and Miguel is too if you can get in and out of SAV stance.

If I were to pick one of them, it'd probably be Lili. I don't like the others.
I was also considering Lars and Bob at first, but I don't need another character with no overpowered lows for online play and even though Bob has the most original movelist imo, he's too gross.

Lili's range is probably her best asset. d/f+3+4 picks up back rollers for a full juggle at ridiculous range.

Lars has good damage and wall carry, but his best launchers are either a bit awkward or counters. His sweep only trips on counter, and only gets you around 50-60 damage without a wall carry. Sometimes I really wish he had a simple hopkick or something though. u/f+3 is as close as he gets to that, but it doesn't net much damage unless you can wall carry from it.

I don't think I've ever encountered a good Bob online. All they do is spam his standard strings.

It seems to me that Lars is (slightly) superior to Lili, but more complicated. Lili is definitely closer to what I want.
Another character that I find interesting is Roger, but I don't know anything about him. I rarely encounter Roger players online.

Online you can get by with Roger just by virtue of almost no one knowing what to expect from him. All the Wangs I've fought have been like that. It's like they're counting on the other person not having fought Wang before.

when i used vega on SF4 most ppl didn't know what to expect, even with balrog i caught a few off guard

Ugh, I encountered a Destroyer Roger who was spamming tail attacks. I won't complain again.
And apparently all you need to get to Vindicator rank with Leo is his sweep.

Leo's sweep is annoying. It's super unsafe on block, but it's not a juggle starter at all. Even on CH you can't juggle from it. All you can with it is d/b+41, or d/b+412 if you're super-charged. You can juggle from the sweep at the end of ff+434, but that has to be the most telegraphed sweep in the game.

Just Steve for now. Although I'm annoyed that I can't use his best B! move online due to the lag, so I'm tempted to switch to an easier character.

Lili solves that. She only has two B! moves from what I remember. d/f+1+2 and d/f+3. d/f+1+2 is what you'll use for regular combos, and d/f+3 is for the wall.

Although truth be told you can use d/f+3 in juggles, but it has odd timing. I couldn't do it consistently even offline.
