I actually thought the demo was pretty good. Leon's was a lot better than the DD one, this one had stuff to do in it and there was some atmosphere. Chris' wasn't that great, but I found it pretty fun nonetheless and Jake's was fantastic. You get a good variety of different enemies to fight and thinking on your toes by using the dodge rolling and ground shooting is great. Also, this seems to be a pretty melee crazy game, I was using Sherry's stun rod and have a lot fun interweaving strikes with the rod and regular melee attacks.
Game's looking better and better.

after playing it some more, I'm getting more into it, but I still think Jake's part is kind of dull, I dunno..
Leon's had great atmosphere and Chris at least had the boss battle, not feeling it yet with Jake, but I'm getting better at dealing with these acid spitting things..
I feel the main problem Jake's would suffer from is that everything is a bit too dark. I never really felt it was dull, especially when certain enemies die and then harden to create eggs for the lizard-like ones and really, using the stun rod as Sherry is great fun.

Just tried the demo. It left me cold.
The camera is all over the place, all the controls feel really floaty, melee does jack shit anymore, enemies take forever to die, my partners kept stealing my kills, melee does jack shit anymore, the level design was subpar, the cover system is awkward and terrible, Chris' and Jake's segments were awful, Leon was decent I guess, melee does jack shit anymore, the new ground fighting mechanics don't mesh with the gameplay at all, the new healing mechanic is alright I guess but poorly implemented, running feels really weird now, smashing crates has a two or three second wind up that gets super annoying after the first time, the new QTEs when fighting/avoiding needs to be refined desperately, my physical attacks kept missing even in close proximity, taking too much damage knocks you on your back which is complete pain in the arse, it just wasn't fun.
Seriously, why is melee so awful now?

if anything melee is overpowered in the demo. the only way melee sucks is if you're just mashing r1 one instead of setting up proper melee attacks. setting up a special melee = 1 hit kill in the demo

Yeah I noticed that after playing through again, I will rephrase my complaint to the QTEs for special attacks are on a weird delay.

Also the stamina bar? Chris can perform like three punches and then he needs to rest for like 20 seconds.

The players are really good. However there are some enemies I hadn't seen before so don't watch it if you don't like spoilers. I read that the game comes with 3 maps without counting the 3 which are per-order bonuses.
So who's getting it next week?

I'm not so sure about getting at launch either. I don't like how the series have become too action-oriented and I'm expecting this to have a lot of DLC and a re-release with all of it included like RE5's gold edition. I think I'll be buying it though because it looks pretty decent and the 4 campaigns are quite long.
I am hearing some bad things about the game, so I think I'll leave it a week to see what the consensus is/whether there are any deal breakers in there.
I will probably end up getting it though just because it's Resident Evil and Mercs is always fun.
