I bought The Watchmen today.

Still waiting for Avi Arad to give more intel on the cast of the Venom movie.

Topher had better be reprising the fucking role.

You liked him? Not that I didn't, but I don't really care about Spider-Man that much, and most people who do seem to have disliked his as Venom. Or just disliked how Venom was written, not sure.

His Venom was great.

It's just how Venom was written that was bad. I mean he shows up in the last 20 minutes of the movie and isn't anywhere near as threatening as he was in the comics.

You really wouldn't. A nice old man is killed because he used to be a superhero and apparently that's enough for a bunch of gangsters to believe they have the right to kill him.

I loved the Watchmen novel.

It still stands up well, though the artwork is showing it's age now, and a lot of the ideas that it touched upon (which were unprecedented twenty years or so ago) have been looked at elsewhere, so it doesn't feel quite as sharp as once it did.

Yeah, that's true but it was done first.

Yeah the movie was good...

But it was nowhere NEAR as good as the Comics. They cut out the civilians opinions of the current events, and other things.

The movie was worse yes, seeing how much of the overall work was cut or trimmed down.

Still, I guess that's the best that they could have done. Alan Moore talked about translating the comic to film afterall.

I like the movie (except for the useless scene in Niteowl's blimp, it's horrendous)

I'll say that while the comic book did indeed drop hints about Veidt before the big reveal, the movie was less subtle in comparison.

I think the movie did a fine job of adapting the comic. Really in a all comic based movies it was pretty close.

I read and borrowed the comic a while back from the library. It's just rorchack's journal was given differantly at the end.
