Any game involving Final Fantasy
Devil May Cry (But it isn't a bad thing.)
Soul Calibur (Again, Not a bad thing.)
That one X-Box game that was an RPG-ish game...I think...It had a guy going solo against...stone dudes? ...I forget. >.<

i've never played through a game and felt it was actually like work
until i met that game

Kingdom Hearts 2 (it's funny that most of my friends agree it's inferior to KH1 though)
Halo (never understood the appeal of these games and the fact Halo 3 has less features than 2 makes me laugh)
God of War series (I like the games but only GoW1 really blew me away)
Final Fantasy VII and XII (I liked VII but it is overhyped, XII however is just plain bad IMO)
Super Smash Bros games (all of them are ridiculously overhyped and considering I've had the game for a while yet only played Brawl a few times is testament to this)
Tales of Symphonia (it's a great game but I'm sick of hanging around Tales fans who think the story and characters are amazing when it's obviously cliche and cardboard cutout)
MGS series (I love the games myself but in the case of MGS 2 and especially 4, I want to play the goddamn game, not watch a movie)
Any Zelda game (Zelda games are hit and miss for me, some are great, some I think are terrible yet almost all of them except II and Windwaker get praised too much)
Newer Mario games (I love Mario but seriously, I found Mario 64 hard to control and Sunshine disappointing and Galaxy felt like an upgraded 64 except with a gimmick attached).

I'm also gonna list a console that is incredibly overrated. The Wii.

I'm a Wii owner myself (I own all 3 next gen systems) but the Wii gets too much praise and attention for what is pretty much a poor selection of quality games. And good luck finding a game that isn't gimmicky and annoying when using the Wiimote.

i think brawl and halo suffer from probably the worst fanboyism that you get in gaming
i've never really been into playing any games in any of the series

It's because SSBB has additional pylons! Wait a minute! No it doesn't! It's just overhyped as hell! It really isn't better than Melee!

Looking over what I posted, about half of the games I said were overhyped were Nintendo games.
