| Just watched this, and it was really, really good. The story has a couple of pretty bold developments that will impact the rest of the Marvel universe at large, so it will be interesting to see how things play out in the aftermath. To be honest, I went in with middling expectations, but I reckon I enjoyed it as much as I did The Avengers - it was certainly better than Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 - and that's about the highest praise you can give a superhero film, right? Had a really good mid-credit stinger too.

Not really, considering IM3 was just okay and Thor 2 was horrible.

| mid-credit scene was okay..nothing too surprisng to me since I already knew those characters were going to be in the next Avengers in some form, so yeah.. I expected something else which has also already been hinted at, but ah well...
But great movie, loved it too.

| At the risk of sounging like me, I was disappointed. For a film called The Winter Soldier, the Winter Soldier was completely wasted. He had almost no development and no resolution at all. Seems like they just needed a bad guy who could fight evenly with Cap and tossed him in the movie without much thought.
I liked that Insight was pretty much the S3 plan from MGS2 though, except even more insane.

| Winter Soldier is the only good Captain America story, so they will make that over multiple movies. | |

| Also thought it was weird that they used digital effects to make Peggy look old. That bugged me for the whole scene. | |

| I wasn't even sure it was Hayley Attwell to be honest, and I didn't know until afterwards that it was digital, I just thought they'd use some slightly iffy prosthetics. Didn't detract from my enjoyment of the film though, and in terms of The Winter Soldier himself, I'd be amazed if this is the last we see of him so I don't see his inclusion as wasted. | |

| Generally speaking an enjoyable movie and I'd say it was great and recommend watching it. Just don't think too hard as the plot is hilariously convoluted for not really a lot going on. However captain america's 'super' powers bug me. Stuff like people shooting only at his shield. Also why can he block thor's hammer fine but a punch from winter soldier makes him reel back? Is there even a use for falcon other than drawing fire or catching people? - Spoiler:
Couldn't they find a stunt double for falcon and just gave up on his fight scene completely? Also how the fuck did he survive the missile on the base by hiding in a hole? Even if he survived it there'd be no way to pick up any debris to get out, yet there was conveniently no debris on that exact whole anyway, was the whole base designed so that debris would drop maybe 1 or two stones on his shield, but none anywhere on his body or his magic hole?
Rocky reference appeased me. Also I get that SLJ was in Pulp fiction.

| Loved it! Don't know if it was the company but definitely surpassed my expectations. Perhaps my favourite sequel of any marvel movie yet. (Yet to see Thor 2 and X men, days of future past) | |

It's better than Thor 2, but I preferred X-Men. I am biased towards X-Men though.

| My 3D Blu-Ray copy landed yesterday, so saw it again today. The scene on the ship was amazing, the car chase with Fury was great, and seeing Cap and Widow skulking around trying to keep a low profile amongst all the shit going down it feels totally unlike any other Marvel film. Having had more time to consider it, it's a really good film, well directed, strongly acted, but I think it was at it's best in the first two acts, when everything was a touch more grounded, no pun intended. The final assault on the Insight heli-carriers, whilst still spectacular in its own right, didn't surprise or delight in quite the same way. The fight choreography was excellent as well, really made you feel Cap had stepped things up several things in the time since The Avengers. I'm also undecided on which I prefer, this or Guardians of the Galaxy. They're both totally different films, yet each achieved what they set out to do. Guardians was funnier, but despite the apparent universal-threat, it never really felt... well, threatening. Everything was very light hearted, you never felt anyone was in any real danger as a result.
The only bad thing I could say about Winter Soldier as an ownership package is that the extras are a bit rubbish. A couple of short featurettes, a gag reel and a four deleted scenes. I got through it all in forty minutes or so. Not really good enough.

| Yeah, does seem a strange omission these days, but I guess they only work if there's a solid idea to base a short on. The home release does include an exciting "sneak peek" at an upcoming film though... which is just the theatrical trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy that was released two months ago. Rubbish. In fact, the extras as a whole do feel half-arsed, though I haven't yet listened to the director's commentary and those do sometimes reveal some information gems. Lucky the film itself is so good. | |
