Watched this last night.
It was glorious. The second half with the ships was dull but that first half, man... I mean don't get me wrong, it's not a good a film. But it was so shameless in it's trashiness that I couldn't help but enjoy it. The terrible Arnold impersonator, that ridiculous car chase where they outrun an earthquake in a limo, and then they get in the plane and watch California sink into the ocean.
Oh, but that's just for starters. Next it's off Yellowstone to watch an entire national park explode. It was ludicrous. Just... A massive explosion. The kind of explosion Michael Bay has wet dreams about. Mental.
After that it gets a bit boring though and the characters start taking up most of the screen time and you realise they're all idiots who cause far more problems than they solve. The dad in particuler was a dumbass. He's taking his kids camping. He hears on the radio that there is heavy government/military activity within the national park. He sees military helicopters flying overhead. He's out walking with his kids and he comes across a fence with big "KEEP OUT" signs on it. His own child says "Hey, maybe we shouldn't go in there". What does he do? Climbs over the fence and takes his children with him. I almost wanted the kids to die just to teach him a lesson.
