I'm at work, making illegal use of work internet. Start at half seven, finish at six, get home about half six.

Holy shit, I can buy this game for 10 bucks less used at Gamestop. Whenever I need to buy a PSN card from there I'll get the game too because I've got like 50 bucks in cash on me.

We're never going to be able to play then, unless you have sundays off.

Well as baal is getting this to, there will be 5 of us soon enough, so you will have people to play with.

That's a shame, I've been playing for a fair bit tonight (though there seems to be a problem with the online server); I'm up to Mission 3-4, and my Battle class is midway through tier 4, so I've enough firepower to handle most things on normal. Or so I thought. Queen ant? Yeah, bring it bitch, I'll stomp you flat. Oh, the bots are both dead. Before I know it, I'm surrounded by robo-spiders, robo-ants, robo-wasps, and there's no health nearby. Death follows swiflty, and that's the first time I've failed a mission.

My thinking was that I was only 20k experience away from tier five, so remembering that Buu had said you get much higher experience on hard and massively more on inferno, I tried one of the early levels on Inferno. Yeah, bad idea. I was overwhelmed very early on, there's virtually no health drops and everyting does a ton more damage to you, and takes a lot more to put down. Tier 4 gear, which had felt plenty strong enough on normal, just doesn't cut it. I dropped down to hard mode, trying level 1-5, where you first fight the Daddy long legs. After half an hour of trying to stay alive, I'd accrued the 20k experience I needed more through luck than judgement, so I tried to focus on taking down the Daddy itself. I swear to God, I spent about half an hour pumping rockets into that thing, I died three or four times in the process (lucky my bots were on hand to revive me), and it just wouldn't bloody die. Eventually, the Hectors, wasps, ants, spiders, flying ships and Daddy itself overwhelmed me and I died. I then watched my two bots getting crushed because they got stuck on a piece of scenery. So I lost all my exp points. Grr.

To prove a point, I went back and repeated the same level on normal. I'd beaten it inside five minutes. I then did the very first level on hard, and I swear the Hector at the end took at least five times more punishment than it did on normal. I'd go as far as to say the Hector on hard took longer to kill than the Daddy Long legs on normal.

I digress. Point was, I've almost beaten the game (yes, it's pretty short) but Hard and Inferno are much, much tougher than I'd have expected, each step up in difficulty akin to jumping two or three difficulties in most other games. I can't wait to level up a bit and try them again.

Welll i'll be really underlevelled to help you with my jet guy although in theory i'd probably be able to revive you and stuff but if you want i can help you out with my trooper and just use whatever tier weapons your using so you don't get stuck killing nothing.

Yeah, feel free to use your main next time. I'll eventually get around to levelling up all four armours a bit more evenly, but that's going to take a while and I doubt I'll bother to get all four to tier 8.

Battle's shield is a godsend against enemies like Mantis, Daddy and Super Hector. If you see one of their big attacks coming, throw up the shield and it does no damage whatsoever, even as it levels the entire block behind you.

Well level 8 takes a stupid amount of time tier 7 we could get all our armours to without getting board me thinks.
Tier 7 felt like more of a grind than tier 8 to me.

It costed 10 more bucks because there were no used copies for PS3 but I figured 10 more dollars was enough.

The guy at counter flipped out in joy when I said what I was looking for and man was he excited to tell me how awesome it was.

I felt underpowered starting Hard mode at tier 5. But maybe that's just the Jet. At tier 7 I went through Inferno easily enough until 3-4, which I didn't finish until I had the tier 8 pesticide weapon.

Played with Tactical a bit, up to tier 3 now. It's awesome. I have proximity mines that I can also remote detonate if I wish. A couple of them on an anthill and it's sealed in no time. Also good if I need to run away.

I have a great assault rifle. Decent damage, 10 rounds per second, 70 rounds per clip. At tier 3 I also unlocked a kick ass grenade launcher. It fires a grenade that bursts into 4 homing missiles. It's like a firework.

Yeah, the only really awful voice acting is Operations (Ops) the lady who gives you in-mission waypoints and objectives.

EDIT: is it Jennifer Hale? She's usually really good, but here... I know it's meant to be a bit awful because that's the B Movie appeal, but it's just cringe worthy.

It sounds like Jennifer Hale... which is odd because she's a great VA and if it is her then she's really phoning it in for this one.
