oh man, i just passed by the WiiU boards again to get a good laugh before i go to bed, the denial in there is through the roof...
they're actually thinking nintendo's thingy is innovative and when someone brings up that PSP already has this future, they start screaming about how much it sucks and how Nintendo will do it better
and I only read one thread XD

The consensus now is that Nintendo has the best cards because they have both a solid first party and third party support.
Also, innovation.

The PSP's remote play feature does suck though. Only a very limited amount of PS3 games can be played through it and the input lag makes playing those select few pretty much impossible. And that's if your sat right next to the console.
But then the PSP was it's own portable console and not just a controller with a screen in it, so it balances out.
Anyway, I missed the end of the Nintendo conference, did they ever clarify what the WiiU actually is? Is it a peripheral for the Wii or does it come with a new console, or is it the new console, or what?

It's a brand new console, they just chose to showcase the controller as it's the only unique aspect of it.

I see. Well, I can see how Nintendo fans would be thrilled by it, because if nothing else it means Nintendo can finally get all the third party titles that have only been on the PS3/360 so far. But I can only imagine it's of interest to people who already own a Wii, because let's face it, if the first party titles haven't made you buy a Wii yet, they're not going to make you buy a WiiU either.
I can't see this console bringing the wider appeal they talked about. It would only appeal to people who only own a Wii by the look of it.

It was a fucking prerendered video. After watching the Zelda video I take that back, I'm more optimistic about the tech in this thing now.

The WiiU Tekken game had some good looking customisation. Seemed to be a new game just for the system too, with Tekken 6's gameplay but newer character models. Might be tag, but I didn't see any tagging. Or any walled environments for that matter.
Still, I hope Tag 2 has that level of customisation.

Asura's Wrath a bit. Street Fighter x Tekken a lot, the game is looking much better than I thought it would. They talked about Street Fighter 3 Third Strike on PSN and XBL being the definitive version of the game and some of the extra things they added, DmC still looks like shit, Dragon's Dogma looks cool and is apparently Capcom's biggest game and Dead Rising: Off the Record looks fucking amazing.

Some of the gameplay and a cutscene where two notable voice actors are Robin Atkin Downes (Travis Touchdown) and Liam O' Brien as Asura (Miguel from Tekken 6).
Unfortunately the asshole who was playing it was fucking awful and I barely got to see anything other than a random punch or kick.

Yeah, I think it will be pretty cool to play a Zelda game in that quality of graphics.

I wonder what Nintendo will bring when Sony and Microsoft release their next gen console...
I'm not too sure this will be able to compete with them, and they can't really bring out another console in 3-4 years, that'd be overdoing it

The Wii was a glorified last gen console and it far outsold the PS3 and 360.

Wii U will definitely sell very well. Hopefully they put more work into it, though, and make it a lot better before they release it. And hopefully we'll be able to use the GC controller for certain stuff. Seriously, the Wii U buttons are too handheld esque for my taste.

yeah, it will sell well, cause it's up against stuff that's old tech already and a handheld, I don't know if it'll stay successful and keep people interested once the other 2 are out.. that's my point

Nintendo's stock shares have crumbled so yeah people are definitely having faith in this thing.
