Ah righto, that makes sense. For a minute there I thought I'd been ripped off in the copies I have.
Eddard was a boss. I'd actually quite like to see a prologue to the main series. As in, about the rebellion against the Mad King Aerys. It'd be good to see Robert Baratheon actually do something, and more Ned Stark can't be a bad thing.
Davos is pretty cool too, he's certainly one lucky son of a bitch.

As much as I'd love to see Robert's Rebllion, I feel like it would spoil the quasi-mythical status it holds in-universe if we got to experience it first hand. The entire thing has a legendary quality for us as readers because it's talked about with such reverence throughout the series; we hear about all these battles and larger than life characters and it would never be as impressive as what we could imagine.
Eddard himself feels like a relic from an old age in the first book: he has all this knowledge and experience that just marks him as separate from the rest of the POV characters. Even when we get to see the world through Jaime's eyes, he lacks the "legendary" quality that makes Eddard so compelling.
Plus I'm worried enough about GRRM surviving long enough to finish ASOIF as is. Let him finish that before thinking about anything else.

Those are good points. I didn't really think about the effect it would have to actually have him write about it, rather than presenting it as an epic battle that absorbed the whole of Westeros.
That is what made Eddard a good character, it's also sort of why he had to die. In order to make way for the next generation. I think part of the reason that he remains one of the more memorable characters, aside from being a point of view character, is that his strength was also his weakness. And the reason he died was the reason everyone thought he was a cool guy.

Have any of you listened to the Season 2 Soundtrack yet? It's pretty fucking awesome.
I can picture the very last scene of the season perfectly clear in my head thanks to the music. Ramin Djawadi doesn't get enough credit for his compositions.

Also, the POV character tier list (for me) from the first four books is something like this:
Spoiler:
Tier 1: Arya Eddard Tyrion
Tier 2: Davos Jaime Theon Brienne
Tier 3: Bran Sansa Caetlyn
Tier Meh Jon Dany Cersei
Tier Ugh Sam "new people"
Be prepared for Tyrion to drop to Meh Tier in ADwD. Also why the fuck do you have Brienne higher than Jon and Bran?

Cause Brienne is cool and Jon and Bran's fluctuate wildly from awesome to 'Jon cried because he was a virgin' and 'Bran had a dream where he was a wolf again'.
The warg stuff does get repetitive.

Bran's chapters suck. I don't care about the Reeds (glad they were cut from the show), the wolf dreams are repetive and Bran lacks character.
Jon is just boring. I like Ygritte though.

It got so mess up, whilst I reading Clash of the King and the TV series running. The TV goes a faster than the book on some parts.

I will cry if the series shows what happens to Robb and Cat's bodies. The book description alone already filled me with pure hate and sadness.
LOL at Joffry. NOM NOM NOM
Littlefinger is the new best character. Can't wait for for Sansa to PLAY THE GAME OF THRONES.

"I am the commander of the royal guard, arrogant whelp. Here your sword, dammit, or I'll take it and put it into a hole that even Renly never found."
It's amazing how so called ASoIaF purists/experts call the Renly/Loras pairing some kind of desecration of the source material when they completely read through lines like this.

Side effects of today's episode may include: uncontrollable ejaculation, feelings of dissatisfaction with everything you watch in the future and actually liking Sansa for an, admittedly brief, period of time.

In other news I finished Storm of Swords and it was the GREATEST BOOK OF ALL TIME. Sansa building a snowy Winterfell made me teary-eyed.
Best characters: Arya, Jaime, Tyrion, The Hound Good: Brienne, Littlefinger, Sansa, Davos, Stannis Meh: Jon, Catelyn Garbage: Sam, Bran, dumb swamp kids, Freys and Boltons, Cersei
I heard Feast and Dance are garbage, so I'll probably wait a while and get off the SoS hype before I read those.

Feast is definitely a hard read, mostly because it's like starting from the very beginning of the series since you're inundated with names and places that you aren't familiar with at all and the chapters of those you recognize are pretty lacklaster.
I haven't read much of Dance yet, but so far it's okay. I'm beginning to hate Dany though just because her story has dragged to a halt since she decided to stick it out in Meereen.
Since I'm nearing the end (generally speaking) of the story as published so far, I've been thinking more and more of how I want ASOIF to end. Here's my thoughts on the matter:
Jon and Dany are obviously going to be important, what with the series being called a Song of Ice and Fire. I'm not a huge fan of either characters and would be okay with either one of them getting Robb'd before the end. I definitely do not want Dany to 'win' because a dragon tyrant on the throne doesn't strike me as a happy ending. Jon's kind of a sap but he's pretty much the best hope The North has. Maybe his half-???? heritage will protect him from the Stark family curse.
As much as it pains me, I can tell there's not going to be a happy ending for Arya. She's got too much hate inside her - she's pretty much The Hound, considering she's fueled entirely by a desire for revenge. The best I can hope for is a Mockingjay ending for her and Gendry or something. I don't think I could handle her dying.
Bran and Sansa (and Rickon), I don't know. I don't want any of them to die but the Starks are cursed by disaster and I have no doubt one of them will bite it before the end of the series. At least Sansa has Littlefinger looking for her, even if it's just because he's such a creep.
Speaking of Littlefinger, I don't know what to think about him. Like, I kind of want to him to succeed since he plays the game so well but I don't it to be a case where he will make his power play and fuck everything up for everyone else. I can totally see an ending where Littlefinger is the only character who survives.
If I had to pick someone, Stannis would be the one I want on the Iron Throne even though he is mixed up in some spooky voodoo shit with Melisandre and he is clearly not Azor Ahai. His rigid sense of justice is harsh but it's better than the alternatives, all of whom are crazy in a more obviously psychotic way.

It's balls-to-the-wall horrific. I was squirming throughout the entire chapter, sick to my gut like I was when I found out what the Freys did to Robb's body.
