| The X-Men movies vary greatly in quality, so you have to be more specific. | |

| Nothing in this trailer has persuaded me to watch the movie. | |

It's the writer and director from Kick-Ass with heavy involvement from then guy who made the first two films. Surely you must have some hope for it.

I do, but this specific trailer just doesn't give me any reason to care much for it. It looks like they're cramming a bunch of mutants into the movie for the hell of it, which I hate, and ignoring the continuities of X-3 and Wolverine, which I'm not too crazy about either despite those movies' suckitude.

| I understand Wolverine, because of the Emma Frost issue (and it really annoys me), but what exactly is it doing that contradicts X-3? | |

| First Class features a different Beast. | |

| Or is it a different mutant all together? | |

| Singer confirmed in an interview that the Beast and Mystique characters in FC are younger iterations of the ones that had already been used.
It's also weird that Havok is in this film, among the first group of X-Men, being Cyke's not-that-much-older brother and all. The age difference would amount to at least a decade or so, unless he's being written into a different role of that family's tree.

Oh ok then. How exactly would that interfere with the plot of X3 though?

| It's basically a floating timeline. Beast would have to be pushing 60 years old in X3 for his FC continuity to make any sense, and I guess that's plausible, but Singer seemed to have made it pretty clear that he was using an all-over younger and different "Beast" for this movie. He's a young man in the very early '60s when his X-Gene kicks in, and he looks like a Dr. Seuss character instead of a lion that got mixed up into blue dye. It just seems to me that First Class is meant to be a soft reboot to the series (it's confirmed to be at least some kind of reboot), like the James Bond films whenever the lead role is switched around. | |

| It still feels like a reboot more than it does early days of the current continuity of films | |

| I assume the thought process behind it was that the characters as they appear in the film aren't the iconic characters people know, so just puyting them on the posters as is wouldn't get people's attention. | |

| The concept of a Professor X and Magneto prequel is good. I hope they do it well. | |

- There is a scene in X-Men First Class that is so surprising, funny and quite, quite brilliant, that everyone we spoke to at the preview last night decided we should keep secret.
Sadly the British tabloid press has not regarded it as quite so sacrosanct. All we can say is try to avoid any Daily or Sunday Mirror coverage of the film, or its journalists, if you want to avoid such a spoiler. Possibly stay off Twitter too.
But since it’s out there, like the Ryan Giggs story, it’s going to get talked about. So we are going to talk about it. To avoid the spoiler, do NOT highlight the text below. We know some of you like spoiler coverage, we know most of you hate it. So. Be warned. This is as spoilery as it gets. Okay.
- Spoiler:
Half way through X-Men: First Class, as Professor X and Magneto are travelling the world looking for mutants, they come across Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, in a bar. Before they can get a sentence out, Wolverine, without looking at them tells them to “Go fuck yourselves.” They leave.
The character’s appearance gets a laugh, his attitude and language gets a double laugh, repeating on itself, through the audience. It’s a superb scene, well played, well staged, well placed. And it’s the only moment such language is used in the entire film. We loved it.
Spoiler over. Consider yourselves warned. Please do not repeat the spoiler in the comments, or in any article, blog or tweet linking to this site. Also, do not click or hover over this link that may inform you as to when the scene was filmed.
And there is another big cameo in the movie as well, which no British newspaper has spoiled yet. Possibly because they don’t realise it was a cameo. But every single one of you will. And we’re not saying a thing about that one. Yet. Sounds pretty ripper.

| It's pretty disheartening to see how many people somehow missed that the X-team was ragtag and mishmashed since the first damn movie. Plus, Halle Berry's craptastic Storm in general deserves more bitching than any family tree inconsistency. | |
