I never had any problems with the controls in this game. I know what bit your talking about in chapter 11, but the thing i thought made snese was to jump off the edge and while hanging shoot the door open and you get straight through. I only needed the hanging trick in crushing on hard i just ran for it and shot just before i jumped.
Combowise I think they did the best without messing up the buttons so i thought it worked. Honestly though i've no clue who would actually use the basic combo its always brutal combat or shoot it.
The only part i wasn't keen on was the bit with the monsters and to be honest i disliked that part in two. So overall, i'm pretty 50/50 on the two games, sure the areas were slightly more boring in 1 but the characters were more interesting i.e. drake, sully, elena. Raja is also the best villain in the series, everyone sucks in 1 and 2.
This is probably why they are letting EU have it early. It's like a super beta to make sure it is running smoothly when it's released to the rest of the world.

I finally caved and pre-ordered this game on Amazon since I found an unused Amazon gift card in my room. Meanwhile I'll try to platinum Uncharted 1 and 2 if I can. I had started my Crushing run when my PS3 broke.

this multiplayer is actually pretty cool, haven't played all the maps yet, but I know of at least 3 which have scripted events in them, which is pretty neat.
there's of course the plane level from the beta, but there's also a level that starts on a moving train, and then there's a level in a desert town, and after a while, a sandstorm kicks in so you can't see shit, adds an awesome little touch to the MP imo.
EDIT:
my first complete match (yes, it was quite bad):

Looks like the HUD has been replaced. And I see they added a sprint option. Awesome.
How is the smoothness of the platforming and gunfire compared to Uncharted 2?

If you haven't played the beta Zero rest assured that it is basically the same as U2 only wya more polished, percise and just all around better. Platforming way less touchy and the gunfire is more realistic (no more retarded cross map AK sniping) and the aiming controls are more refined.

So in essence, it's what U2 did compared to U1. That's perfect.
Didn't get a chance to play the beta.

I already made my pre-order for the collector's edition of Uncharted 3 because Nolan North is charming and I hate money.
