| Maybe he's looking at the idea of it being bad a different way than someone else probably would? Maybe he has a different standard of bad after having read that a couple times. | |

| Well, despite its flaws that bugged me, i wasn't bored. And the music choices and Harley Quinn made all of it better.
It didn't bore me, so for me personally, i can't call it bad then, but yes, it had bad elements for sure.
And yeah, I guess I judge good/bad a bit differently, I go by how the movie makes me feel afterwards, not by what's actually wrong with it. I could see an objectively bad movie with lots of mistakes or plot that doesn't make sense and whatever, but if it still manages to entertain me, I wouldn't call it bad.

| Saw Star Trek Beyond. I rather liked it. Better than the other two, most likely because Simon Pegg wrote the script. No idea how much of Trek fan he is but the tone and themese were definitely much closer to Star Trek than the previous films, which just coasted on references.
Been watching the original series recently and the good episodes are good because the stories are good, and the characters are very well defined. The fact that everything looks crap by today's standards doesn't matter because better special effects wouldn't tell the story better. This film kind of gets that and focuses more on the story and the characters. But also has huge action scenes, so it's a good mesh of both.
Using a Beastie Boys song during the big space battle should have been awful too, but it worked shockingly well.

| Yeah, I enjoyed Beyond as well, and was glad to see the always excellent Karl Urban's Dr Bones get a much larger role than in the previous films. He bounced off Spock and Kirk very well, and was genuinely funny in places.
I did, however, think that Idris Elba was underused. He's a big guy, with an imposing presence, booming voice and a more charisma than the majority of the supporting cast, yet he had maybe fifteen minutes screen time in total and there was no real explanation as to how he came to be Krall beyond "weird life sucking ritual".

3. literally nothing The Joker did made any sense. I'm startng to think if they're playing the "but it's the joker, he's crazy, it's doesn't have to make sense"card in some obtuse way, or if they're just stupid. at one point in the movie he goes to break into whatever the hell kind of facility it was, steals what I assume is some kind of weapon and then nothing ever happens with it or it doesnt get mentioned anywhere. it literally added nothing to the plot. Though i've yet to see this Joker is likely robin anyway and not the original joker. From this new film universe one thing we learn is no one is anyone. Lex Luthor is Lex Luthor's son and the Lex Luthor we know never even met Superman. Superman is nothing like superman if he was raised by assholes who beat him. Batman is a very stupid version of batman. Random plot elements that are apparently really badly done foreshadowing was littered throughout Batman vs Superman they likely did the same here. I doubt i'm going to watch this film DC don't understand characters should be themselves or just make some damn original movies not tied to IPs.

| from what I've heard, there were two cuts of the movie and reshoots were done because Warner Bros. got afraid because BvS was received so poorly.
I imagine most of what's wrong with this movie has something to do with that. I'm sure that one scene would've made sense originally, but as it stands, I can't make anything of it, unless I just missed something or didn't understand it, which is also a possibility.

| The rumour is David Ayer (the director) had his cut, and Warner Brothers hired TrailerHouse (a company that produces movie trailers) to also do a cut, and they screened both, and test audiences preferred the TrailerHouse one. | |

Dammit, I was about to say this. But yeah, 5/10 essentially D.C. Cinematic Universe is not turning as good as I hope it would. Hoping best for Wonder Woman

| The Hateful Eight
For someone who loves his early work, I've found the last two Tarantino films guilty of excess. Django Unchained - for all the good bits - felt unnecessarily spiteful in places, and at times it made me quite uncomfortable, and Inglorious Basterds was simply flat-out boring in places. Blasphemy, I know.
Hateful Eight doesn't quite resist the excess - it's still a near three hour film, and takes at least half an hour to reach the bar where most of the film is set, but there were some terrific performances, some great dialogue and even the violence was somewhat restrained. Flawed, certainly, but never boring.

| Well he is 62 years old who does his own stunts most of the time.
Shit gets tiring, I am not shocked he isn't starring in many movies these days.

| Casino Royale (2006)This is the first time I sit down and watch a 007 movie without anyone beside me, and the first Craig Bond movie I watch, I really liked it. - Superbuu3 wrote:

I think he did good at that in Karate Kid and Forbidden Kingdom. I'm looking forward to seeing Skiptrace.

| Man on High Heels
Korean cop drama/action movie. Typical plot about a badass cop who's retiring but he wants some extra money so he makes a deal with the wrong person and it goes tits up. Only difference is he needs the money to finally get a sex change.

| SKYFALLIt's better than Quantum of Solace, but I love Casino Royale more. The first 25 minutes gave the impression that 007 will be a villain, but the story villain is someone quite similar to him, and the hero is still the hero. - SimianWonder wrote:

There are always those who can't get into well received movies. I watched Alien for the first time a week or so ago, I thought the movie isn't what I'd call a golden classic.
