| Dumb and Dumber To
watched the first one when i was 14 and instantly fell in love with the humor of it, needless to say this one doesn't disappoint, really made me feel like a teenager again
Into The Woods
not into musicals so i shouldn't really comment, it is what it is, if you like musicals you will like this one, it is well made and well acted but it's just not for me

| Big Hero 6
just watched this with the kids, very enjoyable film with a good mix of child & adult humor. Only gripe i have is that they have set it up to make more and this generally ruins them (toy story aside). I just hope they stick to this one

| A Million Ways to Die in the West
Falls into the trap of throwing so many jokes at any given situation, most of them don't really work. Still, it was never less than entertaining and in places was genuinely funny, largely when Charlize Theron was being foul-mouthed and stealing every scene she is in. Was a bit too long as well, the unrated version coming in at 135 minutes, around half an hour too long for what is essentially a throw-away comedy.
Worth a watch, but not as good as Ted though.

| The Wind Rises
I've got a huge soft spot for Studio Ghibli's output, and this is Hayao Miyazaki's last film before he retired. It looks beautiful, as always, but seems unsure about whether it's a biopic, a love story or something more, painting a picture of a man torn between his love for the design of a plane and the only other good thing in his life, his increasingly ill and devoted wife, interspersed with strange dreams of a famous italian aircraft designer.
The ending is incredibly bittersweet as well. It's not a feel good film, but well worth a watch regardless.

| Yeah, I thought The Wind Rises was a bit strange too - but then I guess a lot of Ghibli is. I enjoyed it as well though. | |

| I watched Snowpiercer. Captain America stating that "babies taste the best" is probably the movie quote of 2014. | |

| Oh, I've been told I really need to see that. What did you think, other than Captain America's interesting and revealing statement about cuisine? | |

| Mixed feelings. The whole movie is full of allegory so there's a lot you can read into and the almost Hunger Games-esque social system is interesting if not entirely original but there are quite a few plot holes and things that just make no sense so I got the feeling the director was a little too preoccupied with making a statement. On the whole I think it's a decent movie but I think those couple of problems could easily spoil the whole thing for some people. Probably best to just watch it and see for yourself. | |

| John Wick is surprisingly decent. It's just a 'dumb action movie' but, hey, sometimes you want to watch a guy get revenge on like 200 gangsters because they stole his car and killed his dog. It's shot pretty well and the action is pretty good, worth a watch when you're not in the mood for anything deeper and have already seen The Raid 1 & 2. | |

| Supposedly a second movie is in the works too, with any luck it'll be a prequel that details the so-called impossible job that he completed before retiring. | |

Another good action flick with Denzel as the hero, it doesn't ever explain how or why he can do what he does but it works well with the film

The setup for the person who was going to die was so obvious it was painful, as well as the villain. This cements my view that Disney sets out with the intention to scar children. 2. You can't replace a kids puppy with a new puppy its not the same puppy that don't happen in the film per se but still.

what the hell is pointless in Sin City 2? it still had stories that hadn't been told yet. Pretty sure it's the same for 300, although I haven't read those graphic novels so I can't say for sure.

| Sin City 2 was kind of a mess in terms of timeline continuity. Some of it takes place years before events in the original Sin City, some years after, and Josh Brolin made up to look sort-of like Clive Owen was ridiculous. That said, I did enjoy Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character arc, basically giving the biggest possible "fuck you" to Senator Roark, and Eva Green did gets her boobs out for at least half her screen-time.

| well, it's the same in the graphic novels.. not all events take place at the same time.. I mean, I believe Marve is in the second and maybe the third of the novels (and maybe even later ones), but his story was the first novel and he died at the end, so..
That yellow bastard is the fourth novel by the way, in which Nancy Callahan is still young at the beginning, but she's already there and all grown up in the first 3 novels.
Each novel is a seperate story at another point in time, the thing with the movies is just that it throws in multiple books/stories per movie.

| Flight
Denzel Washington is usually very watchable but despite a strong first half-hour, this was simply a bit boring. Washington plays a pilot who crash lands a plane from a seemingly impossible situation, but is discovered to have been drunk and on drugs at the time. The rest of the film is him basically getting fucked up while everyone sorts out the aftermath. The character isn't exactly someone you're rooting for.

Nothing that happened in Rise of an Empire had any effect on anything shown in the first movie. It was just something else that was happening at the time. The guy holds off the Persian Navy for a bit, that's all. Plus the lead actor was really dull. Sin City 2, I liked Joseph Gordon Levitt's bit. I think it was written new for the film because I don't remember it in the comics. Nancy's story was dumb though. They should have done something with the dialogue from A Dame to Kill For as well. I don't need to hear a different metaphor for getting punched every time someone gets punched. I know it's straight from the comic but it was annoying there too.

I get what you mean but it kind of was the same puppy because of Tadashi's computer chip thing. Either way I thought it would end with Hiro perfecting the teleportation tech. But a good film - Spoiler:
I was a but confused about the villain's motivation though. Not the fact that he thought his daughter was dead, but the whole microbot thing. When he saw those he just thought "Oh hey, I can become a super villain and get my revenge now"? Seemed arbitrary.

| Kingsman: The Secret Service
saw it a while ago, very fun movie, one of the funnest(is that a word?) movies I've seen in quite a while. I especially loved the fight scenes, at one point, there's a fight scene in a church, just the way it's choreagraphed and how it's filmed was really refreshing and fun to watch. Probably one of the best, if not the best, scenes in the entire movie.
Really loved it. | |

| Kick Ass 2
Actually enjoyed this more than the first. Genuinely surprised after all the negative reaction upon release.
Safe House
Utterly generic thriller, starring Ryan Reynolds and the usually dependable Denzel Washington. A really good supporting cast as well, but all wasted on a hugely predictable and rather dull storyline about crooked Government officials trying to get their hands on something that would incriminate them. Give it a miss.
