Anyone care to explain desmond's part in assassin's creed 1?

I apparently missed something cause i don't get none of the weird writing crap on the wall. I also picked up a usb pen in one scene but i don't think i used it. I doubt i'll play this again i just picked it up to check it out will move on to the sequels soon.

Like was the girl in the lab a descendant of that chick who dressed up as robert sal or was she an assassin i'm not sure what i was supposed to get from hwer missing finger.

Yes, Lucy's an assassin. The writing on the wall was written by the last guy that was in the room. The one that went mental. There's more on him in the second game. You're not really supposed to understand what any of it means, apart from Desmond starting to get powers through the machine.

There's two access pens to steal I think, that let you log on to the computer in the lab, and the one in the conference room, to read emails and reports about what's going on. None of it is really touched upon in the second game though, which was disappointing.

Did you see the resemblance between Lucy and Kristen Bell? She was the model and voice for the character.

The character models for Lucy and Desmond in AC2 look really weird if you're used to the ones from the first game. Well, Lucy just looks weird anyway. Zero Punctuation mentioned it too. I didn't realise it at first, but then I watched it again after playing the game and thought "Oh, giant fish, right. I get it now."

Yeah, ZP refers to her as "a fish woman".

So did anyone like any of these characters everyone seemed two dimensional and a dick. I mean the platforming in the game and the assassinations were fun but the faffing about was just plain jarring. I also despised the combat especially memory block 6.

I hate pretty much all the 'present-day' characters, even in the second game everyone keeps secrets from Desmond and it's just frustrating.
Flashback characters are cool though, Leonardo da Vinci is great despite not getting a whole lot of screen time.

There is almost no time spent in the present day in AC2, so ehhh. Don't really care.

The present day bits were the best part of AC2 though. Not that I particularly care about the characters, but I cared about the present day story more than the past story in both games. Although the present characters in AC2 were like family to me compared to Ezio, who I didn't give a toss about.

Didn't really care for Altair either, but at least he went about furthering the plot and setting up key ideas. Ezio just pissed about with his personal revenge story for the entire game, not contributing anything to the main story. Apart from the very end of the game, but even that blew him off as unimportant.

From my understanding of the information we have about Brotherhood, Ezio will have a much more important role than he did in AC2. I'm pretty sure he's directly responsible for remaking the Assassin Order after it was somewhat fragmented in between AC1 and 2.

That doesn't seem to have anything to do with what's currently going on in present storyline though. I just going to wait for AC3.

I'm pretty sure Ezio is important, we just don't know why yet. They wouldn't make another game revolving around him if he wasn't.

I assume the point of the game is just to test the multiplayer waters for AC3. Keeping Ezio just makes the production easier.

The animus is a great concept, imagine if your DNA does register memories of forefathers. That's the main use of Desmond and Vidic

Desmond is alright but you'd think since they're trying to train him to become the next big assassin they would let him in on the secret and not keep shit from him.
