| It has the shadow realm but not long, then it goes to some whacky stuff. 5d has nothing to do with the original story. | |

i just don't understand how it could have astoryline considering the original stems from egypt and dark games etc well there are three new evil god cards. Jaden turns evil in one arc, other characters are corrupted, there's alot of mind manipulation i'd say. Yugi does make cameos, the whole Duel Academy was founded by Seto Kaiba and Jaden's best friend has the same last name Truesdale.

You can't really say that, they're all the exact same universe in pretty much the same city. Hell, Duel Academy ends up going to Domino City.

Hell, Duel Academy ends up going to Domino City. Yeah, but it has no shadow realm in 5d its a whole new thing with new and more rigged gods that nearly kill the main character.

| Good, I like when premises keep getting more absurd.
Egyptians Playing Card Games? Evil Double Personalities and Hermaphrodites? ANCIENT DRAGONS AND DUELING ON MOTORCYCLES?
God, this series reaches levels of absurdity with each new season.
And I love it. What I don't like is how the side-characters are treated in GX.

And I love it. What I don't like is how the side-characters are treated in GX. There 5 dragons, and I think 6 gods A whale, monkey, gecko, giant, bird, spider, and another bird ok 7 gods. The whale, and a bird are from 2 characters that are alive now in the series who die in it.

| Manjoume gets it worse, he goes from serious, good duelist and rival character to just some random side character used as the butt of several of the shows jokes.
Misawa gets the worst out of everyone though, he literally disappears off the face of the Earth after Season 2 only to show up in some picture in the last episode, poor guy.

| Oh yeah, the dragon he hid away so he could become strong without it. But it called to him, etc etc. | |

| Better Spirit Partner for Manjoume Manjoume actually wins against important people Misawa has something of a role Kaiser isn't an ass all of the time Asuka serves some purpose other than breasts The Egyptian Stuff starts coming back in the plot Judai isn't invincible and doesn't break down after losing a duel Hell, even the new characters are well written.
Whoever writes the fucking manga obviously has more talent than the idiots who wrote the anime.

| The manga? I can definitely see that. The manga version was better in both aspects.
Although I would be lying if I said the fillers didn't provide some lulz... and rage Yami.

| Ehhhh, Motorcycle Riding Henchman were dull... and Australian.
And really Siegfried von Pinkhair or whatever the fuck his name was basically Kaiba + Pegasus without the fun. That whole Duel Arc was so shit.
Also, I can't ever forgive the writer for making Marik job to beat Joey despite that Joey was kicking his ass for half of that duel, it's amazing how the author refused to have Marik be beaten by anyone other than the main character, hell Kaiba could've beaten him too.
But this series is infamous for jobbing, I just felt it was at its worst in the duel with Marik vs Joey.
