It's not nitpicking when we're talking about graphics processing power and how console developers are forced to compensate for the lack of it.

Depth of field in games goes far beyond what is 'realistic', that is to say what things would look like through the human eye, because it allows developers to minimise what they have to render clearly at any given time.
Note how everything outside the players focus is blurred far more than it 'should' be. As a matter of fact Killzone 3 also uses a slight film grain effect, along with the typical bloom of a 'modern' FPS, to further hide flaws.


Again, I don't dislike Killzone, Uncharted or consoles, I'm just aware of the fact that, as far as graphics go, they've reached their technical peak.

What about all those cell processors and stuff? (I'm not too versed in this kinda stuff so I have no idea) I thought that the PS3 didn't even use those yet. What if they used em all? Then wouldn't it be a lot better than any comp?

I'm not entirely sure of the specifics but I know they already use it, iirc the 360 has a better graphics card and more Video RAM so the PS3 makes up for it by sharing the workload between the GPU and CPU.
The only advantage consoles have over other hardware is that every system is the same so software can be better optimised - in a blow by blow comparison pretty much any recent chip is more powerful than the Cell, it is hardware from 2007 after all.

Multiplayer beta begins June 28th for PSN+ people and Infamous 2 owners. 5th July for everyone else.

cool, signing up for PS Plus a couple of weeks ago seems to be worth it imo..

the first reason i got it was cause i wanted (early) beta access, and so far I've already played the Socom 4 one and I'll be playing the R3 and U3 one..

Did seem an odd choice for Uncharted though.

My Nate Avatar returns for the Uncharted 3 Beta.

Beta is practically unplayable at the moment. Lots of errors and constant freezing.
Anyway, what I don't like about the actual game is the speed of characters. They feel heavy and reaaally slow.

The free month of PS+ makes the Infamous 2 pre-order cos utterly redundant unless you didn't have an account before the outage. Practically every PSN account holder out there has access to this beta.
