Well fuck me. Just won a copy of Darksiders.

A while ago I saw some competition on Playstation's EU blog about Darksiders. The top prize was a copy of Darksiders and a spiffy looking custom PS3 console. Had no interest in Darksiders at all, but it was a nice looking PS3, so I looked up the answers to the questions on wikipedia and entered. Today I got an email from them. Didn't win the custom console, but I got picked for a runner up prize, which is a free copy of Darksiders.

Jim Cummings is the Narrator and Liam O' Brien voices War so the voice is at least good from what I've heard.

Mark Hamill also voices Navi The Watcher.

From what I've seen from the various cutscenes, I'm not all that impressed with War's voice. It's bland, quiet, and gravelly. It's like he stole Gaara's voice a la The Little Mermaid but never figured out how to yell.

Doesn't sound that bad, he is a horseman of the Apocalypse after all.

Although I imagine the overseers of destruction to be a bit more subtle rather than gravely. Then again, apparently I'm the only guys who seems to think the Lord of Darkness shouldn't be yelling and bitching about his torture every five minutes ala Dante's Inferno, so what the fuck do I know about voice direction?

Although that last one is attributed more to bad scriptwriting and character design rather than voice-acting.

Yahtzee's review of Darksiders more or less covers the issue, expressing confusion as to why War is portrayed as a brooding character. To paraphrase: "He's friggin' War! If I hoisted a seven-foot demon into the air and sliced it in half, I'd be like 'Fucking hell! Did anyone see that? I am a monster truck that walks like a man!'"
