thing is if you go with this theory it basically makes the game redundant in playing
i'm more up for the theory that rinoa ultimately becomes ultimecia

though i rather like to think nothing bad happens and ignore all the creepy hidden messages in the game
otherwise its just a bit creepy and horrible
and for such a long game you don't want a shitstorm to happen

At least Squall is like the only FF character who actually improves after every new iteration of him pops up in other FF-related media. He's still a tool, but he's no longer as bad as Current Cloud.

At least Squall's angst was understandable, Cloud was just batshit.

To be fair, Cloud has a lot of legitimate reasons to be batshit. The problem is that it's only in FF7 and Crisis Core that he shows any personality other than "Whatevs," and Crisis Core is mainly because it's before he adopts Zack's persona after being a naive SOLDIER rookie. It's sad that Cloud has to be ANGST in everything else because he can be a good character otherwise.

Classic Cloud was like a seemingly down-to-earth guy back in the day. He tries to lighten the mood when he can, he laughes, he cries, he learns, and despite his pain and baggage, he's still willing to do stupid and crazy things to succeed in his endevours and usually tries to be positive. That's what made this guy actually cool.

Now it's either mopey, mopey, mopey, mopey(KH and AC Cloud), or "Fuck off"(Dissidia Cloud trying to do a bad Classic Squall impersonation).

I can only remember the one thing said about this game that makes it awesome.

In FFVII, Only one character has an identity crisis. In FFVIII, The whole cast has no idea who the hell they are.

I should try playing this again.
