Just bought Advent Children Complete

Liked it too. I know a lot of people didn't like the fact that Cloud was all angsty again, and while it does seem like a bit of a retcon given how upbeat he was at the end of FFVII itself, I can live with it. Really liked the extra scenes too (more Zack is never a bad thing), and the end fight was much nastier here. AC made a convincing case that Cloud and Sephiroth were very nearly on the same level, yet ACC's Seph was clearly dominant; Cloud got his arse handed to him, and even his Omnislash ended up with himself getting impaled.

So yeah, liked it a lot. Incidentally, when it was over, I watched the ending of the original AC on DVD, and it banged home just how much for granted I take Blu Ray. The Blu Ray picture quality was way better; The DVD looked particularly fuzzy and indistinct by comparison.

I can't stand angst Cloud. He went through all of that pain and character development only to be shoved back into angst for every other fucking game he's in.

Crisis Core is probably the only other game besides the original where Cloud isn't a total angst-ridden fucker.

Hmm. Ever wonder why Cloud is angsty again? There must be a huge fanbase for 'angsty Cloud', otherwise why would he keep getting lumped with that personality rather than the one he has at the end of VII?

That doesn't change anything. There's a huge fanbase for Teen Trunks who is an angsty cunt but you didn't see AT turning Kid Trunks into pure angst, did you?

Just because the fans want it does not mean they should get it. Especially considering that it wasn't even Sakaguchi who turned Cloud into that. It was Square-Enix who did that to get more money. I don't care if they profit from it, destroying a character's character development for the sake of the fan base is greediness at its best and only goes to show how far FF fell after Sakaguchi left.

I'm not agreeing with it, I'm just saying there must be a reason for it.

Producers do what the fans want to attract more people, and it works so they'll keep doing it until a new thing comes up that fans like.

There's always a reason for it. Whether it's genuinely trying to please the fans out of kindness or doing it for the money.

Final Fantasy started because the original Square Co. was in the shitter and it was planned as the company's last game.

Irony is a wondrous thing because after that, Square never went anywhere near bankruptcy again. And even with how horrible the spin-offs or next main FF games are, they're still going to keep getting money because most of the fanbase is going to like it for the fact it has "Final Fantasy" in the title.

The Spirits Within almost took Square down the shitter again.

I highly doubt that. Sure it was a shitty movie but hardly enough to put anywhere near bankruptcy with all of the money they amassed with the previous FF games.

That movie cost billions to make and it made nothing. They fused with Enix not much later after that.

Really? Oh, that's right. CG back in that day costed a shitload.

It was already under consideration and the movie's bomb actually ended up delaying the talks, with Enix being hesitant to join a studio that lost such a substantial amount of money.

Angst Cloud sucks.

And I bet KH1 Cloud was an influence to it too. But basically Geostigma made him all weak and pathetic and couldn't think right.

Enix made him not think right.
