| Fucking around doesn't mean being an asshole.
Being an asshole is just outright insulting them. Playing around just means he screwed with his opponents.

| No.
Messing/Fucking/Kidding around falls in the same category.
Being an asshole is literally inserting some amount of anger or hate into the mix.

| Started playing this game yesterday now that I'm finally done with the whole story of AC Brotherhood, never played a DMC game before this one, only watched and adored the anime, this is one of the more entertaining PS3 titles in gameplay
Completed mission 3 on B rank, replayed it and finished it with A rank
Glad I don't play Human mode

| The opening mission is so good. I love the cutscenes and fighting Dante, the music is awesome too. My only problem is with the design on the Order's swords, why do they have the throttle on the sword if Nero's the only one with his sword customized like that? | |

| Second mission had a lot of shit packed into it for one mission and is boring up until you get snatch, then it becomes fun because through snatch, you have one of the things that make DMC4 so much fun, playing as Nero.
Nero only uses three weapons, the Red Queen, the Blue Rose and the Devil Bringer, through this the game gives you so much depth as there are so many things to do with all three of them. The sword functions as your main mode of attack, dealing the most damage with the combos and Exceed charging. Through Exceed, you are able to charge your moves and attack not only faster but with more power too and you can get another charge of Exceed if you press the Exceed charge right after you land an attack, I remembered being able to get three at one point but I'll go over that when I can remember or when I get it.
Anyways, then there's the Blue Rose. You'll be using the Blue Rose mostly to just kill a far enemy quickly or to chip away at a boss' health, it's full use doesn't come until later when you get the charge shot.
The Devil Bringer is one of the best things about the game. It functions as special move which varies depending on the opponent. Even most regular enemies get a different move when it's used on them and you can use it to keep yourself afloat in the air with both the snatch ability which can pull enemies closer to you so you may lay waste or to buster them which the aforementioned special move.
BUSTERS SO FAR Clash - Used on Dante - Dante and Nero both start clashing with their swords. The result can be one of three things: Dante wins and attacks Nero, Nero parries Dante's attack or Nero runs through Dante with the Devil Bringer. Slam - Used on Scarecrows and Dante - Nero just slams them into the ground with the Devil Bringer Super Slam - Used on Berial - Buster Berial when he's weakened while in the air to have Nero lift Berial and slam him into the ground and this can be followed with another Super Slam or... Catapult Punch - Used on Berial - Buster Berial when he's weakned while grounded and Nero will uppercut Berial into the air and then punch him into the nearest wall.

| - Spoiler:
Here's the most basic enemy of the game, Scarecrows. Scarecrows are very easy to defeat because they are both ridiculously slow and have a lot of health, the only time they are ever reasonably a threat is if they ever surround you.
- Spoiler:
DANTE (MISSION 1)It's a tutorial fight, so there's not much to it really. Dante's going to give you a lot of room to breathe in this fight and you should just take advantage of it. A good way to ridiculous amounts of damage in such short time is to use your buster on Dante, constantly. His only defense against it rolling and a very easy way to get him into a buster is to do the basic sword combo (Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Triangle) but instead of doing one more slash on the last input you do a buster and then Clash will usually begin. Clash has three results: Dante will win and knock you down for a good chunk of health, Nero will parry Dante's sword and this leaves Dante open for an attack, or Nero will win and knock Dante away with the Devil Bringer for two bars of damage, a way to make it entirely certain you'll win is by mashing the devil bringer button (Circle). It's a very basic fight but there's a lot in this fight you're going to want to remember for the later fight in Mission 10.
- Spoiler:
BERIAL (MISSION 2)Alright, the first real boss fight in the game and the one that was constantly advertised. Berial's a tough bastard at this point in the game for most people's first time. He's strong, he's hard to stun and the bastard gets more annoying attacks as the fight goes one. An easy way to cheese the fight is to snatch up to Berial's upper body and then buster it, Berial will knock you away from him because he is still on fire but the second he knocks you away, snatch him. This will cause you to fly right past him and go behind him so you can attack his back and at this point it will take him a bit to turn around. If you're ever low on health, the nearby houses have green orbs in them that can heal you. Shooting Berial is a good way to whittle his health down enough so he becomes fatigued but it will take a bit. Once Berial becomes fatigued, this is a good chance for you to do some serious damage to him, first you want to air buster Berial then follow it up with a ground buster. The air buster will have Nero slam Berial into the ground and he will still be in front of you so you can ground buster him for even more damage instead of just doing one ground buster which will knock him away and give him ample time to recover. Once Berial recovers then he has this area of effect attack that will hurt you a lot if you aren't far enough from him. Once Berial gets past the halfway point then he'll begin to use a tracking attack that summons fire on you from the ground. The fire will try to hit you four times before it disappears and Berial will also try to lunge at you from now on too, but all of these moves are heavily telegraphed and should be easy enough to dodge with the time he gives you.

| Okay, Mission 3 was alright but that falling tower at the beginning of the stage is still pretty damn random and this is the only time in the game Gloria does anything. - Spoiler:
These are frosts. Remember them from DMC1? Well they're back and more annoying than ever. These guys are pretty tough with a lot of the crap they do. They don't get stunned easily, they can heal themselves and their attacks do a good amount of damage. Even worse, they usually come in pairs so it's hard to just cheese one of them by bustering the crap out of them. A good way to deal with them is to have one be close to the other as this is the only way you can successfully cheese this enemy easily because Nero winds up the Frost in such a way that it can multiple opponents while he's tossing them around and still do good damage, the charged shot with Blue Rose works wonders against these bastards too.
- Spoiler:
Here are the Bianco Angelos, these guys look tough, right? WRONG! These are among some of the easiest guys to beat in the game. All you have to do is jump over them and attack their backs or buster them behind their backs and you've pretty much beaten them. If they fly? They're even bigger targets because they don't block nearly as much! You can also mash the DB button (Circle) to dig in them more with their lances.
- Spoiler:
BAEL (MISSION 4)Bael is sort of a two-sectioned boss because when he reaches half health it becomes a whole new ball game. At first the worst thing Bael does is try to flatten you, something that's very easy to dodge because it takes forever for him to fall and his shadow gives you a very easy idea of where to move. Bael will also have the Rusalkas (His antennae) fight for him sometimes, but they don't do much beyond some basic sword attack, you can also buster them and do some good damage to him for it. A good way to do easy damage to Bael is to attack him while in the air because you begin hitting the ice on his back and once that's all gone then he becomes fatigued and you can buster him to do some serious damage. When Bael turns red then he becomes a threat. Not only does Bael become faster, but he becomes more vicious and does more damage, he'll freeze himself at points you can't do anything but shoot the Rusalkas, he'lll shoot out ice in front of him at a large range and finally he's faster with his falling will spin too so the shadow becomes a bit confusing to maneuver around. If you manage to get around this then you can finish off Bael quite easily.

| Mission 4 was kind of annoying due to the dumb gyro blades and there's not really much to mission 5 beyond the introduction of Mephisto's. - Spoiler:
The Mephisto's are kind of annoying at first but once you realize their capes can be removed by bullets and the Devil Bringer's Snatch and Buster abilities they become cake. The Mephisto's will maneuver around you a lot though and they'll try to slice you up with their pointed tails and nails that can shoot out like a bullet. Once their cape is removed, however, they become sitting ducks and you can easily destroy them.

| I've been looking at some stuff on GameFAQs and seeing the dislike for Nero is ridiculously dumb. Pretty much everyone's reason for disliking Nero is that he's not Dante, which is ridiculously stupid. | |

| It very much is and I feel like the fanbase being that retarded resulted in the piece of shit capcom is now trying to put out. Man I woulda loved DMC5 with Nero as the antagonist full-time. I love Dante and he is without a doubt my favorite video game character but Nero was the shit. | |

| It's just Raiden-itis I wouldn't worry about it; if there's ever another DMC game he'll be back and 100x more generically 'cool'. | |

| I can at least understand the hate for Raiden, I mean Konami left it as a suprise so it semed pretty stupid when we were given a new character.
With Nero, i'm not a fan but i don't dislike him, he had been announced from pretty much the start of the games announcements. You also get to play as Dante for half the game. MGS2 letting you only play as snake for an hour or so was annoying but they fixed that with snake tales.

| Raiden wasn't the bad character it was Rose. People have been conditioned to hate new main characters to the series after MGS2, because MGS2 essentially blue-balled everyone with advertising Snake as the main character and then making it Raiden. It's not so much people hated Raiden as it was that people hated being told they were going to play another Snake adventure and instead they got a stripper. | |

Why doesn't this come out here until February? I would have been chuffed to bits, but instead we have to wait for no reason. It's the same damn game with the same damn files!

| Tried this for a bit. I'll definitely come back to it because Nero's quite fun, but coming off of DMC3 it feels a bit slow and awkward. Hate not having a button to cycle targets, and only having one combo for Red Queen to start with is boring. The tutorial fight was annoying and unnecessary too. | |
