No it's mainly because this game having DC characters in it is going to make it appeal to younger people more because it has Superman and Batman in it. And because the ESRB sees this, Midway had to make this T rated in order for it to pass.

And yes. I understand how dark DC Characters are portrayed in the comics. But most Teens nor Children have access to the comics nor do they want to read.

Shaolin monks was awesome IMO
but deception was the last good fighting game
2 and 3 were good as well

3.

3 was the last one I fully enjoyed.

Mainly because they had pre-set fatalities and no weapons.

And no story mode.

i found the fatalities crap in 3
and the fact there was only 1 preset combo for most characters
kinda made combos redundant

I don't see a major issue with it. Scorpion has always had his spear, as has Kano his laser eye; both could be construed as weapons. Not to mention how Shao Khan has his hammer. Don't even get me started on Stryker or the blade-armed Baraka.

All things considered, if these weaponry-based moves are acceptable, what's wrong with giving Sub-Zero a broadsword or Liu Kang nunchucks?

Because those were part of the characters themselves.

Sub-Zero was unique for the fact he beat the crap out of his opponent with Ice and his fists.

Nothing else.

you make a good point
most of these characters had styles which already had weapons associated with them
kano threw knives IIRC since 1
kitana and mileena always had weapons
in fact most characters had weapons that they used for specials or fatalities

Except that's part of what made the characters unique.

If you give everyone a weapon then there goes some of their originality.

i found the fighting styles very unique for the most part
i don't think deception had any repeats
except that guy in story mode

I still didn't like it.

Giving everyone a weapon just ruined the originality between a few of the characters for me.

In fact because of that, I am now buying the game.

i'm interested in the frefall fighting and the close up fighting
seems different and interesting
i just hope it isn't abusable
