| Croc had lost the will to fight. It wouldn't have mattered if he had won or not, because his plan was already ruined. | |

- Incidentally, I've just been re-reading the War Arc, and I'd forgotten just how good a showing Croc has. He tangles with Mihawk, Doflamingo, Jozu, even Akainu, and granted they may be only brief tussles rather than drawn-out fights, but only a surprise attack from Jozu actually hits cleanly or causes any visible damage.
It really wasn't what you'd expect of a guy who got beaten by a pre-Gears Luffy. He made Impel Down and Marineford so much more worth it. When he saved Ace by killing the guards just so that they wouldn't be able to have their victory, that was just amazing. I can't wait to see him in the New World.

| Croc for 2nd division commander of the Straw Hats by the end of the series.
I know he should somehow be "0th" and Bon Clay should be 2nd but I can't figure out how to make that work so never mind.

| However unlikely it was that croc lost to luffy. Its made clearer after his plans f'ed up he had no reason to win and most likely really didn't care. In the cover stories he had no reason to leave impel down and wanted to just stay there. I guess it goes to show if he's got no motivation he just doesn't do anything. The fact he didn't even cacre about Blackbeard or luffy just seems to reinforce this. | |

| Great, time for a flashback.
At least we finally learned about Doflamingo's string powers and we got confirmation that Sanji is still useless.

| It's been a while since the Straw Hats split up in two like this. Not since Baratie/Arlong Park iirc. If Law ends up surviving this encounter, I wonder what he plans to do now. | |

| Sanji got shitstomped as expected, I think it'll turn out that Law is just trying to create some space for the SH Crew to get away and he hasn't actually called it quits just yet. | |

Don't worry baal he was likely playing possum. Once he puts on a dress Doflamingo won't know what hit him.

Fuck you guys. It was an odd way of handling things. Dofla twice commented on Sanji being strong, yet still smacked him around with minimal effort. Sanji did his job though; he stalled long enough to help the others escape, with a bit of help from Law and his hax DF.

| Sanji needs a comeback big time. The way Oda is handling him is ridiculous. We've seen some dynamic changes in certain characters even though their personality was untouched. Oda hasn't done that with Sanji yet (not since he joined the crew). Just to alter his character a little bit to balance that ratio of pervertedness to badassness. Where's Mr. Prince when you need him? XD | |

| There was a hint of Mr Prince in Sanji this chapter; he was sharp enough to call Law on his focus on Doflamingo, even at the apparent expense of Kaidou, the alleged target of their alliance.
I agree that Sanji needs some loving though. Zoro and Luffy seem to get put in situations where they just look absurdly badass, Sanji hasn't really done that since the end of Enies Lobby, and that was arguably only making up for being such an idiot earlier in the same arc.

Yeah, I do like how Sanji acted in the last two chapters. That was more of a balanced Sanji like the elden days.

| While it's not as extreme as the usual crazy faces the crew makes at times, Robin making even a relatively low-key gag face is a milestone. On the same page in one of the previous panels, she doesn't make a really weird face or anything, but she does have an over dramatic serious face which is played for laughes with Usopp's reaction, so that's a twofer if you count that as well. | |

I was taken back for a moment by the fact that Oda decided to have Robin make that face.

| Okay then. - Spoiler:
Law. Dead or no? On the one hand, this is One Piece and with two notable plot-driven exceptions, no one dies outside a flashback. On the other, Law not only got beaten down hard he got shot multiple times at point blank range by someone who has already said he won't underestimate the "squirts".
If Dofla's truly that ruthless, he'll have made sure Law isn't getting back up. I'd actually like to see Oda have the balls to kill off Law here; it'd reiterate how deadly opponents in the New World can be, but honestly I don't see it.

| The obvious answer is that Law removed his internal organs. | |
