Aerith was, like, the only proper mage. Vincent was half-decent at magic, but Aerith would've been awesome.

Aeris was alright as a character. My main party was always Cloud, Cid and Vincent (whenever possible) So I never worried about her. Her theme is good too.

The only party worth using is Cloud, Cid, Vincent because of the fact that their stats aren't sub-par. Tifa's limit break is worthless and she's outclassed by Cid. Barrett is horrible, Cait Sith is alright and RedDogMan sucks.
Aerith had incredible magic and was actually great at her combatic job. If Aerith lived, Cid would be out, mainly because Vincent has an awesome limit break.
