lightning returns final fantasy 13

ok so i got the demo today & had a go...

I think because of how much i enjoyed the first game & liked the second i was expecting a lot from this one but it just feels like more of the same, i know its only a demo but 13-2 didnt change a lot from demo to release so im not expecting this one to either which is a shame as i wont be spending my money on it.

there's some good new things in there, mainly the new battle system where you can shift into 3 different versions of lightning in the push of a button but there is only one character to fight with still so you only really have 1 health bar, this is great for saving potions/elixers obviously but it means either the games going to be extremely difficult or more likely not difficult enough to keep us entertained.

That sounds more like my kind of game but I've heard some really weird things about it like how the whole thing is timed and you just have to keep replaying until you're strong enough to beat it within the time limit.

ye ive heard the same things, there is a time limit (13 days). not sure if you would have to keep replaying though, the worst thing about it that i didnt put in my post is its "social media friendly"!! i sync my trophies to facebook but thats as far as i go, this game wants me to tell my friends every time i beat a boss.... not that bad i hear you say, well after you beat a boss they become regular enemies so you can keep grinding XP out of them & keep posting it to facebook or twatter

There is supposed to be a way to extend the time limit through in game actions.

So it's like a 60 hour version of Half Minute Hero?

The game is more like an action-rpg and probably the most fun of the series, I cannot wait for this to come out with all of the customization options and class options it's gonna have.

Nah man, the fact there are three ATB meters attached to three separate jobs with a fast combat system is really rad. I even made a video showing off the gameplay back when the JP version came out.

it is a good system it just feels like it's in the wrong game if you know what i mean, final fantasy games have multiple characters to play with, even 13-2 had the enemies so you could play differently where this is just one character doing everything herself

Why does it matter? Final Fantasy has always been a series that has changed and never stuck with any particular conventions. Even sequels to main series games will change up how the story is, the message, the gameplay, etc. Why are you trying to stick Final Fantasy down to something like it's always been one kind of thing when it hasn't?

Like honestly, who cares if you're playing as one character? It's always meant to change depending on the gameplay style, not the other way around.

played it earlier today as well. I really enjoyed it. the new battle system is gonna take some getting used to, but it'll work out soon enough.

can't wait to play the full game.
