| Not familiar with the series outside of LoS but everyone seems to think the guy at the end is someone called Alucard. Which is a dumb name. | |

| eh, It could be Alucard. But, It could also be Hector. ...I think it's more likely Alucard (The Son of Dracula). - Spoiler:
And since Gabriel is Dracula for the LoD series, That would also make Alucard a Belmont, Rather than a descendant of Vlad Tepes, The Original Dracula. (Alucard's actual name is Adrian Fahrenheit Tepes.)

| That almost brought a tear to my eye. It looks beautiful.
Seriously though hopefully this means i can rebuy LoS with the DLC... Seriously I refuse to pay the price those guys were charging for DLC.
I got to say are they just pandering to fans to win back the old cry, by saying "look we got alucard that one guy everyone loves so we're cool again".

| It's a shame that they've apparently ignored the context of the epilogue and kept the game in the past. But I suppose a modern setting would just piss fans off even more. | |

Thats not the point, he thinks by it being the present it wouldn't be like classic castlevania. So fans would be more pissed off. But it shouldn't make a difference seeing as thats been a series norm.

| Aria of Sorrow & Dawn of Sorrow both take place in 2035 & 2036 respectively. ...And yes, There are pistols and RPGs. ...In both, I believe. (Haven't played much of Aria, But have beaten Dawn atleast twice over now.) | |

| It may help. The game itself could literally be played once and you'd be done with it for good, Both gameplay-wise and story-wise. Every character is basically the same with some changes to make them different (Simon can summon ghosts as assists/shields, Alucard can acquire powers, Trevor becomes Gabriel 2.0). Here's a basic run-down of the story, If you're curious enough. - MoF: Chapter 1: Gabriel Belmont:
Gabriel and Marie share a night together before Gabe sets off to fight some evil creature. As he's leaving, however, we get a nice shot of Marie holding her stomach in a soft, motherly way.
Gabriel and a few throw-away brotherhood goons track down The Daemon Lord and Gabriel defeats him by catching him in a Holy Pokeball, Being the sole survivor of the encounter. Gabe sustains damage in the process.
Meanwhile, The Brotherhood Elders and Pan visit Marie to show her what Gabe is to become using an artifact called "The Mirror of Fate". They then tell her that her son, Trevor, and his lineage will be the only hope to stop Gabula ...and that she'll be killed by Gabe. They leave, She weeps, End chapter.
- MoF: Chapter 2: Simon Belmont:
We see a woman and a child running from a burning village with werewolves on their trail. The mother trips and the child stops to help his mother up. But mother tells him to save himself. So he does, Leaving her for the wolves and clutching his pendant as he runs away screaming.
The grown man wakes up with a start and recovers from his nightmare. He then stands up and puts out the campfire before hopping on his stead and riding off. He then arrives at a run-down village and enters, Running afoul with zombies and picking his first sub-weapon, An Axe.
He then approaches a bridge leading to the castle, But the bridge retracts before he can cross it. So he parkours the treacherous terrain and falls into the water where he... learns to swim ...FINALLY, The water is no longer a bane to The Belmonts! ...*ahem* ...Simon then swims into the underchambers of the castle. He eventually comes across a silent spirit, Who uses Simon's pendant to show him the location of his father's weapon, The Combat Cross. This silent spirit will come and go throughout Simon's adventure. With the knowledge of his father's weapon in hand, he works his way up and defeats a boss. I forget what it was, But I remember it being piss easy. After that, He continues on and takes an elevator up to a part of the castle when he happens to see a fireball plunging towards the water... And so he pushes foward, Not giving a fuck.
Eventually he comes upon a theatre stage where he fights a barrage of marionettes, spying a blur above him in the midst of the battle. Soon enough, The mechanism responsible for summoning the marionettes to that area is stopped and a lone figure rides down onto the stage on a sandbag... and then fucks off without so much as a word.
Now a little confused, Simon continues on and finds his father's whip, The Combat Cross! ...Or rather, An imitation of the one Gabriel used that Trevor was given. He doesn't hold it for long as an agent of Zobek's takes it from him and battles him. The Agent, Who looks like Death from Castlevania of old, is also easily beaten by following his predictable patterns and patient approach during the last moments of the battle.
With Combat Cross in hand, Simon scales up the castle, eventually coming upon a death trap! ...a rather simple death trap that doubles as a treadmill obstacle course in the shape of a carousel, But a death trap all the same. The death trap suddenly stops and the lone figure from before appears again. Simon questions his aid and the figure responds that Dracula cannot be defeated alone, As Trevor tried before Simon. Simon then asks how the mystery man knows of his father. The man then fucks off yet again while saying that Simon won't have to fight Dracula alone.
Simon then scales the castle and eventually reaches the peak, Where he jumps through a window and is suddenly seduced by a succubus... He pimp smacks her and then ends her. Suddenly, The illusionary environment collapses and reveals Dracula's throne room. Simon and Dracula share a dialogue together when the doors to the room opens...
- MoF: Chapter 3: Alucard:
We see a lone coffin placed squarely at the center of a room. The coffin, with the word "Alucard" emblazoned upon it's cover, opens up and a lone figure arises. Once he is out of his coffin, He is greeted by the silent spirit. Alucard notes that the spirit was there before, But he cannot remember anything else. The spirit points him toward a mirror, Which then lights up and shows Alucard a vision that horrifies him to the point of screaming the big "No". He then calls himself a monster and sets off to find "father". He crosses the chain bridge and is set upon by a half machine Daemon Lord, Who proceeds to wreck his shit. He then picks up Alucard, Holds him up to the sun for him to catch fire, And then tosses him downwards towards the water below. Meanwhile, Simon takes an elevator up to a part of the castle when he happens to see a fireball plunging towards the water.
After he hits the water, Alucard proceeds to swim back into the castle and trek his way to the theatre area. Passing above the stage itself, He spots Simon and then proclaims, "It can't be...". Alucard then solves a puzzle and stops the mechanism for the marionettes. He then hops onto a sandbag and rides it to the stage below. He then fucks off and wonders why Simon is here.
Afterwards, He gets into a boss battle with the aftermath of Simon's first boss battle, The encounter wrecking an elevator. But after feeding on the creature, He gains the ability to wall jump. He uses this to proceed and runs into Mecha-Daemon Lord again. M-Daemon Lord taunts that he'll give Alucard's remains to the Toy Maker and begins his electrifying assault. Alucard beats him, Drinks his blood, And gains the ability to glide. He uses this to fly up from the pit the two ended falling in, Leaving M-Daemon Lord to fall to his doom.
Alucard continues on and end up underneath the carousel death trap that Simon ends up caught in. He solves the puzzle here and stops the machine and then meets Simon again. The two have their dialogue while Gabula watches them from somewhere nearby. Alucard then leaves Simon and goes to meet his father. Except the doors locked and he has to find two blood orbs. So, He goes and finds them and then opens the door. He enters during Simon and Gabula's dialogue and joins in on the talk. Gabula wants to kill Simon because he is a Belmont and he can't suffer that bloodline to live. He asks Alucard to join him, But Alucard refuses. Que boss fight.
Alucard and Simon double team Gabula until he releases a dark spell on Simon that turns him against Alucard. Alucard refuses to fight him and instead, Just Blocks his attacks and absorbs the spell into himself, The spell having no affect on him because ...He's a vampire as well? ...Anyway, Gabula gets pissed and decides to try to end it then and there. Alucard counters Gabula's attacks and then holds him from behind, Calling Simon to finish it, Who then stabs Gabula in the heart with The Combat Cross. Gabula then screams and turns to ashes.
Afterwards, Simon and Alucard talk with each other briefly, Alucard commenting that Gabula may not actually be dead and Simon asking if Alucard will finally tell him who Alucard is. Alucard simply lays a hand on Simon's cheek and then walks away...
- MoF: Chapter 4: Trevor Belmont:
Trevor and his wife, Sypha, are at a dinner table. Trevor's face is buried in the palms of his hands and his wife is consoling him. Little Simon is playing with the Combat Cross until his mother tells him to stop, Telling him that it's not a toy. She and Trevor then talk about how The Brotherhood told Trevor the truth about his father, Gabriel. As Trevor leaves, He gives Simon a pendant that he was wearing at the time, Telling Simon that, Though it hasn't shown him anything, It will show Simon his destiny. Simon hugs his father and then Trevor and Sypha hug. Trevor tells her that if he doesn't come back that she is to take Simon and take to the woods, Finally telling her not to look for him. He then leaves.
He approaches the castle and crosses the bridge, Fighting skeletons and 2 mini-bosses along the way. He approaches the door when a spirit tell him that he needs to get something before entering. So he finds the Amulet of Light Magic and goes in. Once in, The spirit tells Trevor that he will fail and his wife and child will suffer consequences. Trevor then wrecks his face with the Combat Cross, Effectively turning the spirit into a mute. He then presses on and ends up under the castle, Where he meets The Lady of The Crypt. She attacks him and Trevor comes out on top... Only for the The Lady to reveal that she is actually a bait, Attached to the forehead of a colossal worm monster. Trevor latches on and rides it through a tunnel, Climbing the creature and finally using the castle environment to split the creature's head.
With that glorified QTE finished, Trevor ventures on through the castle. Acquiring the Amulet of Dark Magic and Long Jumps Boots along the way. Finally, Trevor comes upon a room where a group of witches are performing a ritual. The ritual works and The Daemon Lord is released from his Holy Pokeball. Trevor then latches onto him and ends up being taken on a flight around the castle, After more QTEs, He eventually splits The Daemon Lord in two from the torso. As he leaves, A strange clown of a man riding a unicycle looks down upon the remains of The Daemon Lord... This is the Toy Maker, In case that wasn't clear.
Trevor then confronts Gabula and the two share a dialogue about Trevor avenging his mother's death and Gabula claiming not to know his mother. To which Trevor responds, "But you do know her, I'll tell you her name... Before I carve it into your heart!" Gabriel 2.0 and Gabula then have a boss battle similar to Gabriel vs Satan and we get a glimpse of moves that Gabula will have in LoS2. Finally, Gabula turns into a fog and pushes Trevor into the air before leaving him to freefall over him. Trevor then claims that this is the moment he will tell Gabula who his mother is. Trevor dodges fireballs as he catches up to Gabula and moves to stab him. The camera zooms out just as the stab takes place and fades to white.
We next see Trevor's face as the camera then zooms out, Trevor coughs up blood and then the camera reveals that he is lying on the floor with his own Combat Cross stabbed into his chest. In his final moments, Trevor then speaks to Gabula, who now stands over him.
"I understand now... I understand everything. I have fought against my fate, Even though it was in vain. But you... You accepted your fate. You were betrayed at every turn, Yet you still followed the path set before you...even when that betrayal included your own wife! Fate is cruel. In the end... I pity you... Father."
Gabula is greatly confused by this dialogue and is even further raged when The Mirror of Fate confirms the fact that he had a son. In a fit of desperate rage and sorrow. He hastily feeds the now dead Trevor his blood while crying, "Live... Live, My son."
Shortly afterwards, We see Gabula standing before a coffin before turning to leave off-screen, Most likely to cause the devastation we see in Simon's nightmare. The camera zooms up to the coffin, The word "Alucard" emblazoned unto the cover.
- MoF: 100% Completion Ending:
Alucard searches a grand, seemingly empty room. He comes upon a small pile of rubble and finds the stake that was used to kill Carmilla in LoS1. The castle starts to shake and Alucard flees by jumping out the window and turning into a bat.
Meanwhile, Simon stands on a far away cliff overlooking the castle. "Farewell...", He says as he watches the castle crumble to dust and a lone bat flying off to the horizon.

| It was something of a letdown once I came off my hype horse, Yes. But I'm still glad I got to play a Castlevania game that has Trevor in it. Now if only PSN would just put Curse of Darkness on sale, I'd be set. lol | |

| You can pre-order this on PS3 for £28 at Amazon. 360 version is £36, so I suspect it's an error. Get it while it's cheap! | |

| Steelbook is probably the best option, since Amazon hs fixed the price now. My order is still for £28 though. Gotta love Amazon's price guarantee.
Or you could GAME exclusive Collector's Edition for £100. That's a totally reasonable price.

It's fine, But only if you plan to play it only twice or something. (Once to beat the game, And then once more to collect everything you missed to get the real ending. The new unlocked difficulty isn't really worth going through it again.) Ofcourse, If you genuinely don't want to play it for whatever reason but want to read the story. I've actually typed out a summary twice. Once here on this topic (2 posts up from chaosdragon) and then again on the MoF topic (The first time I did the summary, I'd forgotten I typed it before when I did the one here).
