Yeah, kind of like Megaman's synchro thing. The character unleash this power called a Digisoul, which is basically their emotions/hot bloodness and pass it through their Digivices which makes their Digimon digivolve. And yeah, it is kind of out there with Marcus punching these huge behemoths. He's punched out SaberLeomon if you can believe that and he only faces stronger enemies from there.
Also no Megidramon in this series, but Gallantmon shows up.

Does he reprise his role as a Royal Knight or just another cameo like in Frontier?

He's a Royal Knight. Most of the known Royal Knights show up apart from Alphamon IIRC.

I still hate how the dub turned Yggdrasil into King Drasil? What Americans don't know how to say Yggdrasil? And they pronounce Drasil (Dray Zill!) WTF!

That's pretty random. I kind of stopped watching the dub in the 20s. Didn't know they were nearing the end already.
