| Okay, wow... What the fuck happened in this film? It felt like half the film, the hlaf that explained everything, was missing. | |

| Was there that much to explain? I didn't really like the film but it was pretty straightforward, the only thing you don't know is why the Engineers wanted to kill all of humanity and that will probably be explained in the sequel. | |

| Well, the major thing that's bothering me, is the two scientists that got stuck in the pyramid during the storm. They found the little alien worm thing, and one of them got acid on his helmet and everyone thought he was dead. But later he showed up again and was mental and tried to kill everyone. No idea why that happened.
But the other guy. The worm thing went in his mouth, and that was it. Never see him again. He's never even mentioned again.
And that dude David infected. He was sick for 10 minutes and decided to kill himself? Sure he was in a bad way but that's a bit extreme. And did David somehow know he was going to have sex and impregnate that woman with the giant facehugger? Did he want that to happen? Why would he want that to happen?
Most of the time while watching I was either thinking "What's happening?" or "Why is this happening?".

| I think the stuff with David was just him wanting to see what happened, not sure about the rest though. | |

| So was this any good or was it just as much a confusing mess as everyone said? | |

| It's an interesting concept, taking the "ancient alien" theories as fact and actually going in search of them. If it had just been a sci-fi film about the drive to meet our makers and find out why they made us it could have been really cool. But then about 30 minutes in it goes crazy and the Alien universe blunders in and takes up the rest of the film.
It's worth watching if only because it's too hard to explain what's so weird about it.

| Finally got around to watching this last night. Visually, it was stunning, but it seemed to have lots of good ideas that then got abandoned as soon as something else came along.
Why cast Guy Pierce only to have him covered under prosthetics? Why not just hire an older actor?
Why did David infect Dr Holloway? Did he know what would happen or was it all just chance?
Why was the "baby" a squid? How did it survive to grow that big?
Too many things were unresolved; I'm all for a bit of in-universe ambiguity, but this just seemed like a combination of poor screenwriting and lazy direction. It should have been so much more.
