Manually ejecting discs
N.B. if this does not work when you send in your PS3 for repairs make sure to note that you have a disc stuck inside the machine. I'll update this tread with more information later.

I tried watching the X-Men First Class Blu-Ray recently on my PS3, but it didn't work. After it started playing I got a notice that said I need to visit such and such website if discs don't work. It was new and other Fox Blu-Rays do work on my PS3. Is this a common problem with recent Blu-Ray releases or is my PS3 just fucking up?

Fixing YLOD

This looks popular enough (First part getting over 2 million views) and percentage of likes over dislikes indicates that it's pretty solid. I, myself, have viewed the first part and it seems legit to me. This is that soldering thing I mentioned in the other topic.

I had that exact problem last week but it's never happened to me before and every issue my customers have had with Blu-Rays has been fixed with a firmware update. Probably a problem with the PAL version of x-men and PS3s as I haven't heard of any similar issues with dedicated Blu-Ray players and it worked fine on our Panasonic player.

For what it's worth though I got it to work on my playstation by hitting triangle to bring up the navigation controls and messing with the skip/fast forward functions.

Wow. Was this just extremely well timed, or did my moan earlier prompt you to do this? Thanks in either case.

I'm not able to find the Temp Data file, only the X-Men data file. So far it's not working yet.

Last time I updated my firmware was three weeks ago, so I'll try updating that. Also will try skipping/fast forwarding.

Looks like I already have the latest firmware installed. Skipping/fastforwarding also doesn't work.

I also tried playing the Blu-Ray while being online. Didn't work either.

Was there nothing under Video > BD Data Utility > Shared Cache data

I think Neo's the only one who can really help you sorry i don't have that film so i can't check what files it puts up i'll see if i can find anything more detailed. You could also try the safe mode thing and use the defrag options, make sure you read the above post in here earlier though so you don't delete anyinfo you need. You could have corrupted files leading to a problem, or an error on your hard disc. The fix i found seemed to work for everyone. I'll look into it a bit more in a while.

So yay, I guess?

EDIT:

also Zero, it should be noted that it doesn't require any soldering at all.

Why are these videos always in such poor quality? Makes it hard to identify exactly what's going on. Still a good tutorial. Cheers.

well, it's recommended that you DL the PDF and read through that, the vid just serves as a purpose to illustrate it.

Well that's annoying. Just restored the data from my old HDD to the new one, but none of the PSN content copied. I have to re-download everything.

Would it be worth adding my experience of changing the HDD to this?

It's not really that hard to unscrew some screws but maybe.

My controller suddenly stopped working unless it was plugged in. Wouldn't sync properly, and the little reset button on the back didn't help.

Unplugged the PS3 for a minute, turned it on and synced the controller and it's working fine again.

did you try other controllers? and did they work?

cause if not, it could be the controller or the bluetooth receiver in your PS3.. if other controllers worked, you'd know for sure it was the controller that was acting up and not the PS3..
