I've never heard of Xfire before (I'm sure it can't be worse than those Unregistered Hypercam contraptions). Fraps is what I gather video game recording's all about.

Never tried it to be honest but I really can't be assed installing another 'always running' program for games. That and I'm pretty sure my computer can actually handle running a game + Fraps at the same time now.
