That series was the best I've seen Cable.

I'm going to pick up my first Xmen comic tonight. I asked the Gfaqs Comics board which arc is the best to start with and someone said Astonishing Xmen is the best place to pick it up... Is that accurate?

Astonishing is my favourite X-comic, but it's 10 times more enjoyable when you've read New X-Men before it and know the continuity.

Well i got enough money to pick up both, so I guess I'll do that.

Dear God, Clairemont's X-Men revamp is as DARK AND EDGY as Liefeld's X-Force was EXTREME.

Luckily for me, this run will only take 14 issues before Morrison takes over X-Men. Uncanny however... well I'm not looking forward to Chuck Austen after hearing the stories about him.

Have you gone into withdrawals from the lack of angry characters with weapons brandished jumping at the reader on every cover yet?

Yeah, but luckily Clairemont just made Kitty an an angry teenager with serious issues and a lesbian haircut who uses one of Wolvie's bone claws as a weapon to jump at the reader every page. So yay!

I am so saddened that Whedon ignores all this... development to make her a quirky girl who makes quips all the time again.

I've actually read criticism of AXM that are about how Whedon did just that and made her too much like Buffy instead of the mature woman that she had become in Clairemont's latest runs. But what the fuck. Kitty's currently just an angry version of Jubilee and completely unlikeable. And Buffy's based on Kitty, not the other way round anyway.

Also Nightcrawler became a completely for serious no-nonsense priest. BORING. He's supposed to be the fun guy who drinks beers with Logan, yet still is a devout religious person. But I guess that wasn't dark enough.

This new mangaish artstyle perfectly complements Austen's beautiful storytelling.

I wonder what Havok/Polaris fans were going through when this was all being released. That's some fantastic character derailment going on right there.

Also, what moron at Marvel (Quesada, I guess?) holds Austen in higher regards than Morrison and lets him retcon everything Morrison did two months after he stopped writing.

The X-Men editors liked Xorn enough and gave Austen the green light to turn him into a real character when Morrison refused to. Little did they know what they unleashed.

I guess they also liked randomly insane Lorna Dane who was the secret daughter of Magneto.

Magneto and his family underwent a world of redonkulous retcons after Morrison left.

I have reached The Draco. Before I start, is this the worst X-Men storyline?

Oh yes.

I should at least be glad Austen hasn't touched upon my favour- oh this is a Nightcrawler story.
